The Human Services Concentration offers an applied psychological and interdisciplinary understanding of personal and social problems often encountered in contemporary society, and it is designed primarily for students who intend to pursue careers in psychological and social service related fields. Through its combination of coursework, internship, and self-directed study, this program prepares students for immediate employment in a wide variety of helping professions, and serves as a foundation for admission to applied graduate study in the mental health and community service related fields.

In TU’s public history program, students will develop primary and secondary research to interpret historical events, critique information about the diverse human condition and identify assumptions and evidence, to resolve problems in a diverse global environment. Public history places a focus on how to communicate this information, through written and visual design.

The public history program links historical knowledge to professional practice, as all students will be able to work in various applied history professions, including historical consultants, museum professionals, government historians, archivists, oral historians, cultural resource managers, curators, film and media producers, historical interpreters, historic preservationists, policy advisers, local historians and community historical activists.

The finance concentration enables the student to build upon the solid foundation from the course work in the MBA program and provides students with greater exposure to economic and financial business practices. The finance courses provide an opportunity for students to learn about local, national and international economies in cooperating and competing markets. Students will explore performance of stocks, bonds, commodities and other types of investments. The program prepares students to work in the field of financial management either independently or with a corporation, bank, securities firm, non-profit organization or an investment firm.

Learn the business of sports and recreation with classes that focus on sports analytics, legal issues, branding and pricing and contracting. Be a winner, like our students who have built and maintained websites, attended sport business conferences, served on committees for leadership development programs and designed campaigns for re-branding a franchise.

The Marketing concentration provides students with the advanced knowledge in marketing products and services. Students will explore the practices and techniques commonly used to increase exposure and market positions. Challenges and benefits in negotiating sponsorships and endorsements allow the students to develop competencies to potentially maximize revenue for organizations and individuals. Students will also be exposed to marketing in an international arena.

The addictions counseling concentration provides hands-on skills and clinical education in problems of substance use, abuse and dependence, as well as other related and co-occurring mental health addictive issues. Our program is designed to meet the educational requirements for Chemical Dependency Counselor licensure status, as well as the international certification standards in addiction counseling.

As a student in the program, you can complete an internship in the field and work on the 220 hours of practical experience in the 12 core areas that is required for licensure. If you achieve this and complete all of the required course work, you will only need one year of experience in the field (2,000 hours) to sit for the licensure exam in order to become licensed at the second highest level for chemical dependency counselors in Ohio. The only higher license in this field requires a master’s degree.
