The addictions counseling concentration provides hands-on skills and clinical education in problems of substance use, abuse and dependence, as well as other related and co-occurring mental health addictive issues. Our program is designed to meet the educational requirements for Chemical Dependency Counselor licensure status, as well as the international certification standards in addiction counseling.
As a student in the program, you can complete an internship in the field and work on the 220 hours of practical experience in the 12 core areas that is required for licensure. If you achieve this and complete all of the required course work, you will only need one year of experience in the field (2,000 hours) to sit for the licensure exam in order to become licensed at the second highest level for chemical dependency counselors in Ohio. The only higher license in this field requires a master’s degree.

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Cross-Cultural and International Psychology
Due to the increasing growth and demand of psychology and mental health needs across the globe, international psychology is quickly becoming a more recognized and relevant sub-discipline, both worldwide and in North America.
As a student in this program, you will learn major theories, research, and applications of psychological knowledge. As a senior, you will focus on an international population/location – either as part of an internship or research project abroad or with an international population or cross-cultural issue/problem within the United States. You will be able to mix both types of experiences (internship and research) based on needs and opportunities.
The undergraduate program in psychology at Tiffin University also has concentrations in human services and addictions counseling (which can lead to a chemical dependency counselor license). You have the ability to mix concentrations as part of a major and a minor.

Our faculty bring years of executive, operations-level, clinical, academic, and research experience in criminal justice to the graduate learning process in a way that sparks debate, fosters insight and elicits innovation. Joint student-faculty collaboration on learning projects is a common occurrence.
The Forensic Psychology Concentration is offered in a four semester format, with the addition of an intercession course or thesis option. This concentration is designed for students who are interested in examining the relationship between psychology and the criminal justice system. The program is primarily research based and will prepare students for careers in the criminal justice system and/or mental health service agencies. Students will develop knowledge and expertise in substance abuse, psychopathology, personality assessment and research methods.
Students also study the application of psychological principles to the resolutions of problems in the administration of criminal justice, such as jury selection, police stress and employee counseling.
