TROY’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in global business and a concentration in risk management and insurance highlights the importance of risk management within the context of a global business framework. Our program will offer you opportunities to obtain proficiency in risk management and insurance concepts as they are applied to servicing both commercial and personal insurance needs.
As a RMI student, you’ll gain industry-specific knowledge that will make you marketable and well-qualified for jobs in this industry. Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

Bachelor of Science in Surveying and Geomatics Sciences
As a graduate of TROY’s surveying and geomatics sciences program, you’ll have opportunities to work as a surveyor with some of the most modern and precise satellite navigation systems and measurement devices. You’ll also gain a knowledge and understanding of legal issues ranging from boundary location to land development and environmental regulation.
TROY surveying and geomatics sciences graduates play key roles in the design and construction of the nation’s buildings, roads, bridges, tunnels, water-supply systems and utilities. Depending on your area of expertise, you may find yourself designing and building computer systems for purposes such as land management, resource management, utility organization, traffic control and urban planning. Working as a surveyor, you can also help less developed countries change their land ownership systems to promote economic growth and democracy. In fact, many surveyors also work toward environmental protection and efficient utilization of the earth’s resources.

TROY is home to the only Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited surveying and geomatics sciences program in the state of Alabama. In TROY’s general music program, you will take classes taught by skilled and knowledgeable faculty members who have a passion for music and guiding you toward success. Within your courses, you will learn about music traditions from around the globe and how those traditions are entwined with the human experience. While some courses will help you trace the development of Western music from ancient worlds all the way to the contemporary periods, others will teach you the fundamentals of music, including rhythm and meter, note names, intervals, scales and more.
As a general music major, you’ll have access to incredible opportunities that allow you to participate in hands-on courses that will give you the skills for keyboard musicianship and sight reading, sight singing, improvisation techniques, harmonization and chorale playing. Physics graduates generally see approximately 94 percent employment rates one year after graduation. Roughly half of the graduates go into the private sector and enter the workforce in the fields of engineering, civilian government laboratory research, computer or information systems, natural sciences or other science, technology engineering and mathematics fields.
The physics major requires 65 hours in general studies, 18 hours in a minor subject of study and 37 hours in the major field. The major includes a solid foundation in fundamental physics and an up-to-date curriculum taught by an expert faculty committed to helping students succeed.
TROY physics faculty members have expertise in theoretical physics, optics and nuclear physics and provide individualized attention for students. Faculty members frequently perform experimental demonstrations during classes to help ground student’s knowledge in real-world phenomena.
Physics majors will take coursework in mechanics, modern physics, optics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism and quantum mechanics. The Biology/Biomedical Sciences program prepares students for careers in the health professions and biotechnology. It is an integral part of the pre-professional program. Students who receive a bachelor’s degree in Biology/Biomedical Sciences are well prepared to enter graduate or professional school, begin careers as laboratory technicians or seek employment in the biotechnology industry.
Students complete a wide variety of courses aimed at providing a thorough understanding of the development, structure, and organization of the cell and are exposed to a wide variety of modern approaches to analyze genetic, molecular, and cellular events.
Specialized courses in Microbial Ecology Applied Genetics, Biochemistry, and Immunology complement the offerings in Biomedical Sciences. The inclusion of lab-based investigations in these courses serves to enhance the students' exposure to state of the art approaches to solving complex problems in biological systems.
Students who choose the Biology/Biomedical Sciences program will have many opportunities for growth outside the classroom. Many research opportunities are available for students to conduct research with faculty mentors using current technology and equipment.
