Because of this, there is a growing demand for rehabilitation professionals and other workers who provide services to people with disabilities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistic’s (BLS) Occupational Outlook Handbook, physical therapists are among the fastest growing occupations in the nation with more than a 22 percent growth rate projected from 2018-2028.

That growth isn’t only felt in the physical therapy field—other rehabilitation-related occupations are expected to grow rapidly, as well. The BLS projects there will be a 22 percent growth rate among professions such as mental health counseling, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology and substance abuse counseling.

 The mission of the Troy University Student Affairs Counseling program is to prepare Student Affairs Counselors to provide competent professional service in all areas of student services counseling at the post-secondary level. If a career in physical therapy, occupational therapy, clinical exercise testing and prescription, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, health-fitness/wellness, strength and conditioning or nutrition is in your future, a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science is a perfect fit. This competitive program includes concentrations in pre-health professions, health and wellness and nutrition, and incorporates coursework from five academic departments spread across two colleges.

With an emphasis on preparation for entry into graduate health profession schools in the fields of physical therapy, occupational therapy and physician assistant, you will be prepared to successfully enter into graduate health profession schools nationwide. Students in this program will:

• Demonstrate a sound foundational knowledge and understanding of the principles of biology, chemistry and nutrition and an advanced understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
• Demonstrate basic laboratory skills pertaining to assessments, laboratory methods, sound experimental and analytical practices, data acquisition and reporting in the exercise sciences with emphasis on physiology and biomechanics.
• Participate in the research process including literature reviews, data collection and data analysis related to the importance and influence of physical activity, nutrition and exercise on health.
• Understand and apply the principles of exercise testing and prescription to diverse populations at various developmental stages and under a range of health conditions.
• Demonstrate requisite skills and abilities for meaningful employment in exercise science-related areas or pursue graduate studies in an exercise science-related area.

 The computer science program provides students with a curriculum in the key domains of computer science at undergraduate and graduate levels. These programs provide students with computer science knowledge and skills while preparing them for careers in computer technology and for advanced study in graduate courses. TROY’s undergraduate curriculum is centered in the latest technological advances taught by a caring and highly qualified faculty. Students work on individual and team projects, focusing on game design, cell phone apps, web applications, visualization, Teensy Board Programming and database accessing applications to name a few.

A bachelor’s degree in Economics with a concentration in financial economics is designed for students with an interest in banking. Students will receive a strong educational foundation in economics with a particular emphasis in modern finance. Topics such as financial statement analysis, risk and return and time value of money will complement the core theories of economics. Financial economics students will be well prepared for applications such as asset valuation, capital budgeting, long-term and short-term financing and investment decisions.

The Division of Economics and Finance is also home to the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy. The Johnson Center provides a dynamic and rigorous education program focused on the imperatives of free market and individual liberty as well as relevant policy research on current and local issues. Students with an interest in the free enterprise system will benefit from engagement with the Johnson Center and Troy University’s financial economics program.

Students with a background in financial economics will find employment opportunities within both the private and public sectors. Entry-level positions in the private sector include corporate finance, brokerage firms, financial consulting firms and financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies and mutual funds. Graduates may also find employment within government regulatory agencies such as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Federal Reserve System and state banking department.

Students may also choose to pursue a graduate education. An undergraduate degree in economics with a concentration in financial economics is an excellent foundation for graduate study in business, finance, law, public policy or economics.
