The interdisciplinary studies program lets you build your degree program based on your individual career goals and skill set. Within this program, you’ll complete your general studies courses and select three academic minors that will hone your skills across a broad spectrum of topics and specializations. This course load will be rounded off with any unrestricted electives you choose to complete the minimum 120 hours course requirement. Within TROY’s applied health science program, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on four areas of knowledge and skill. The core of the program—based within the study of nursing—will create a firm foundation for any future health-related field you choose to enter. You may also choose to learn and explore within the applied health science program’s three other concentrations in the areas of communication, nutrition and humanities to further develop your area of interest in the medical profession. An additional option, as you work your way through the program, will be to pursue a degree in nursing by applying to the nursing school with the proper GPA and required course completion.

TROY's dedicated and celebrated counseling and psychology staff will familiarize you with the laws and regulations that govern the disability field. In class, you'll be equipped to understand the causes and treatments of disabilities as well as various counseling theories and techniques. Your degree will also prepare you to recommend workplace accommodations for individuals with various disabilities, perform labor market and job analyses and facilitate the employment of individuals with disabilities through advocacy and assistance with job searches.
