The world continues to use radio and television as two of its main avenues for receiving news and information. Additionally, the Internet and social media play active roles in the way people around the globe receive their news and entertainment. As a TROY broadcast journalism student, you will learn to skillfully navigate these outlets to help deliver news to a rapidly changing audience.

Through your training within TROY’s award-winning Hall School of Journalism and Communication, you will master the art of news reporting, including the interview process and writing for mass media. Within the framework of your degree, you will become a practiced communicator as you combine core broadcast skills with hands-on TV studio and production techniques and experiences. These courses and opportunities will require you to hone your critical thinking skills all while learning to work under pressure and meet deadlines. You’ll have ample opportunities to report, produce and anchor live television newscasts Monday through Friday at TrojanVision, TROY’s state-of-the-art TV production studio.

The Troy University School of Accountancy is committed to providing students the accounting education required to enter the accounting profession and to pursue a successful professional career. The Troy University School of Accountancy offers an undergraduate accounting curriculum that provides the foundation for entering the accounting profession in the public, private, or governmental area. An undergraduate degree in accounting will also give you a strong foundation in business-related topics such as marketing, finance, and management. Earning your degree in Accounting gives you flexibility in choosing employment or furthering your education. If you choose immediate employment, you will have the skills to obtain an entry-level position in a public, private, or governmental entity. If you choose to further your education, you will have the coursework necessary to enter graduate programs in accounting such as the Master of Accountancy. As a TROY student, you will have an opportunity to seek a paid internship at one of the many local, regional and national firms or private company businesses and governmental agencies that recruit students from Troy University. The internships generally begin in January and last approximately three months. Importantly, the internship program is part of the accounting curriculum, so participation in the internship program does not delay graduation.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in the recruiting activities sponsored by the School of Accountancy. Our annual Accountancy Day and Meet-the-Firms events provide networking opportunities with Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firms as well as governmental agencies and private company industry representatives. You will have the opportunity to enhance your interview skills through workshops co-sponsored with the Alabama Society of CPAs, Becker CPA Review, and ITAC Solutions. As a TROY student, you may also join the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)—one of the most prestigious professional organizations in the United States—as well as the Alabama Society of CPAs.

 The computer science program provides students with a curriculum in the key domains of computer science at undergraduate and graduate levels. These programs provide students with computer science knowledge and skills while preparing them for careers in computer technology and for advanced study in graduate courses. Whether joining the workforce or continuing on to graduate studies, the TROY computer science program can help you realize your full potential.

Students in this program have the opportunity to work on individual and team projects that include game design, cell phone apps, web applications, visualizations and more. This unique program will introduce you to the theoretical foundations and modern laboratory experiments in the area of electronic circuits and devices. However, unlike the curriculum presented to students taking the academic path of a traditional engineer, your curriculum will focus on the foundational aspects of the field in order to prepare you to enter into the electronics hardware industry.

As a student pursuing your bachelor’s in electronics engineering technology, you’ll be taught by knowledgeable and experienced faculty members and given access to modern instrumentation and a wide range of courses. Much of your coursework will put your training into action through engaging lab experiments. Every course the program offers has been designed with real-world application in mind and is led by knowledgeable, seasoned professionals who are excited to impart their understanding and skills to you and your classmates.

Sociology is the scientific study of human relationships and interaction. If the study of human lives, societal changes and social causes and consequences interest you, then a major in sociology at Troy University is for you. TROY’s political science program is split into two concentrations — American politics and public administration and international politics — that will provide you with critical thinking skills necessary to thrive in the political, commercial, educational and government worlds.
