Graduates of the program are prepared to improve the quality of life and well-being of individuals, groups or communities through direct practice, international practice, research, policy, community organizing and teaching.

The direct practice concentration offers students a one-of-a-kind opportunity in Alabama. Students will receive specialized training in providing advanced level social work services to individuals, families and groups. In addition, Troy University’s long partnership with the United States military, and TROY’s faculty with military backgrounds, provide the student the unique opportunity to gain focused training in dealing with military families. Graduates in this concentration have the opportunity to fill an unmet need in many areas of public and private social work in addition to filling the specific unmet need for social work services for our active duty military and reserve personnel.

This program offers students the tools and direction to enter the professional Theatre industry, graduate study in Theatre, or work in a related field. Students have the opportunity to explore the broad world of Theatre while discovering and developing their own areas of interest and emphasis, gaining hands-on experience in performance, design, technology, management, playwriting, and advanced academic studies. Students develop résumé and portfolio materials, learn to network with industry professionals, and are encouraged to work professionally through employment opportunities and internships. The rich array of professional quality theatre, musical theatre, and dance productions each year give students a chance to immediately apply what is learned in the classroom, and new works and outreach initiatives allow students to experiment with creating and producing their own work.

The Master of Science Graduate Program in Environmental and Biological Sciences is designed to broaden the student's perspective and provide skills and knowledge for understanding and solving problems in the environmental and biological sciences. The program teaches students the direct and indirect economic, social, and political contributions of the environmental and biological sciences. The program underscores the interdisciplinary and cooperative nature of environmental and biological issues. This program teaches students how to manage conflicts and emphasizes the importance of effectively communicating with the private and public sectors, regulatory agencies, interest groups, and communities. The Program objectives are listed below:

• To demonstrate the pivotal role of the environmental and biological sciences in understanding and addressing environmental, ecological, medical, agricultural and policy-related issues.
• To promote the professional development of students for entry and advancement in the private and public sectors as scientists, educators, administrators or managers.
• To provide students with the necessary skills for performing research, reviewing and evaluating regulatory guidelines and writing professional documents.

Your classes will immerse you in the field of science starting with cell structure and going all the way to the ever-complex human anatomy. Many great internship opportunities exist within the field of economics. The Division of Economics and Finance works with several organizations such as the American Institute for Economic Research, the American Enterprise Institute, the Cato Institute, the Institute for Humane Studies, the Institute for Justice and the Tax Foundation to offer great internship opportunities to students pursuing degrees in economics.

The Division of Economics and Finance is also home to the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy. The Johnson Center provides a dynamic and rigorous education program focused on the imperatives of free markets and individual liberty as well as relevant policy research on current and local issues. Students interested in the free enterprise system will enjoy the programs offered by the Johnson Center.

Students with a background in economics will find employment opportunities in both the private and public sectors. Entry level positions in the private sector include marketing research, management consulting, banking, investing and insurance. Government positions include economic forecasting, public policy/legislation analysis and economic impact studies.

If a career in physical therapy, occupational therapy, clinical exercise testing and prescription, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, health-fitness/wellness, strength and conditioning or nutrition is in your future, a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science is a perfect fit. This competitive program includes concentrations in pre-health professions, health and wellness and nutrition, and incorporates coursework from five academic departments spread across two colleges.

With an emphasis on preparation for entry into graduate health profession schools in the fields of physical therapy, occupational therapy and physician assistant, you will be prepared to successfully enter into graduate health profession schools nationwide. Upon completion of the program, you will also be prepared to sit for certification examinations offered through the American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association and other organizations in the related fields of health and fitness, clinical exercise testing and strength and conditioning. Additionally, the Internet and social media play active roles in the way people around the globe receive their news and entertainment. As a TROY broadcast journalism student, you will learn to skillfully navigate these outlets to help deliver news to a rapidly changing audience.

Through your training within TROY’s award-winning Hall School of Journalism and Communication, you will master the art of news reporting, including the interview process and writing for mass media. Within the framework of your degree, you will become a practiced communicator as you combine core broadcast skills with hands-on TV studio and production techniques and experiences. These courses and opportunities will require you to hone your critical thinking skills all while learning to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
