TROY requires all students seeking a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish degree to complete a study abroad program either on their own or through guided trips with faculty members.

To ensure the success of the instruction in the classroom, students are tested prior to graduation using the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages exam for oral and aural proficiency. The TROY Spanish Club is very active on campus and plays host to many cultural and language activities for students.

TROY students also work with native speakers from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Spain, Costa Rica, Venezuela and other Spanish speaking countries inside the classroom. The TROY Spanish program not only prepares students to speak and write Spanish at an intermediate level or higher, it focuses on the cultural similarities and differences between Spanish speaking countries and the United States.

This unique program will introduce you to the theoretical foundations and modern laboratory experiments in the area of electronic circuits and devices. However, unlike the curriculum presented to students taking the academic path of a traditional engineer, your curriculum will focus on the foundational aspects of the field in order to prepare you to enter into the electronics hardware industry.

As a student pursuing your bachelor’s in electronics engineering technology, you’ll be taught by knowledgeable and experienced faculty members and given access to modern instrumentation and a wide range of courses. Much of your coursework will put your training into action through engaging lab experiments. Every course the program offers has been designed with real-world application in mind and is led by knowledgeable, seasoned professionals who are excited to impart their understanding and skills to you and your classmates.

Through working your way through your undergraduate degree, you’ll find yourself a part of TROY’s Department of History, which is housed within the College of Arts and Sciences. As a member of the history department, you’ll study with knowledgeable and caring faculty members who share a passion to see you succeed. Within your history coursework, you will set the groundwork for your degree by studying world history, U.S. history and world geography. Once you’ve completed your general studies, you will have ample opportunities to focus on your areas of interest as you take a variety of traditional and dynamic courses.

European history
From the fall of the Roman Empire to today’s contemporary European culture, TROY’s European history courses will take you on a journey exploring some of the greatest victories and losses felt “across the pond.” These classes will equip you with a deeper understanding of topics such as the Crusades, medieval Europe, the Age of Enlightenment and the French Revolution and provide you with inspiration for your own future classroom.

Asian history
Study the ins and outs of Middle Eastern culture including information about Islam, the Ottoman Empire and the Western influence that has helped shape the Middle East since World War II. You’ll have the opportunity to study the development and interaction of Chinese, Japanese and Korean civilizations, as well as the impact of Western cultures, twentieth-century conflicts, resolutions and accommodations.

African history
You’ll have the chance to dive deep into Africa’s rich history with all its political, social and cultural milestones, including the continent’s division by European powers and decolonization. You’ll also have the chance to follow the history of African Americans from the 17th century to present day.

 The computer science program provides students with a curriculum in the key domains of computer science at undergraduate and graduate levels. These programs provide students with computer science knowledge and skills while preparing them for careers in computer technology and for advanced study in graduate courses. Students in this program have the opportunity to work on individual and team projects that include game design, cell phone apps, web applications, visualizations and more. Because of this, individuals working in the areas of trade, tourism, media and science are discovering the need to learn a second language as the world continues building its global market place. TROY's SLI program is a 31- to 33-hour program—offered in thesis and non-thesis track options—that focuses on preparing domestic and international students for future careers in second language teaching.

Even in English-speaking countries, such as Great Britain, the United States and Australia, there has been an increase in the number of immigrants coming from non-English speaking countries. Individuals interested in helping others will find that a degree in human services will prepare them for a variety of professional roles. Human services professionals may choose areas of practice that allow them to assist children and families, the elderly, the homeless, immigrants or veterans. In addition, they may assist people with addictions, criminal records, disabilities and mental illnesses.

Human services professionals work in a variety of organizations such as those assisting people with finding employment and appropriating food, nutrition, housing and shelter. They may also serve as victims’ assistants or work in public safety or disaster relief.
