Additionally, the Internet and social media play active roles in the way people around the globe receive their news and entertainment. As a TROY broadcast journalism student, you will learn to skillfully navigate these outlets to help deliver news to a rapidly changing audience.

Economic issues are everywhere. The study of economics explores the choices individuals make when faced with scarcity. The study of economics can be applied to any facet of life. Why are some countries rich and others poor? Why is Social Security short on funding? Why do men and women earn different incomes? Economics addresses these questions.

Many great internship opportunities exist within the field of economics. The Division of Economics and Finance works with several organizations such as the American Institute for Economic Research, the American Enterprise Institute, the Cato Institute, the Institute for Humane Studies, the Institute for Justice and the Tax Foundation to offer great internship opportunities to students pursuing degrees in economics.

The Division of Economics and Finance is also home to the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy. The Johnson Center provides a dynamic and rigorous education program focused on the imperatives of free markets and individual liberty as well as relevant policy research on current and local issues. In today’s society, the number of people with disabilities continues to grow. Because of this, there is a growing demand for rehabilitation professionals and other workers who provide services to people with disabilities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistic’s (BLS) Occupational Outlook Handbook, physical therapists are among the fastest growing occupations in the nation with more than a 22 percent growth rate projected from 2018-2028.

That growth isn’t only felt in the physical therapy field—other rehabilitation-related occupations are expected to grow rapidly, as well. The BLS projects there will be a 22 percent growth rate among professions such as mental health counseling, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology and substance abuse counseling.
