The University of Delaware School of Nursing offers several opportunities for students to become a registered nurse (RN). There are three types of undergraduate programs:

• Traditional Undergraduate Program: The traditional undergraduate program is designed for beginning students of nursing, including high school graduates and change-of-major students. This is a four-year on-campus program and students are directly admitted to the Nursing program, beginning their Nursing curriculum as freshman.
• Accelerated Degree Program: The accelerated degree program is a 17 month on-campus program designed for individuals who have a bachelor’s degree in another field and wish to pursue a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
• RN to BSN: The RN to BSN program is an on-line program designed for registered nurses who want to attain a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

This sequential curricular development will allow students to build a solid foundation for nursing practice. To support the student experience, a state-of-the-art clinical simulation laboratory and resource center allow students to pursue independent and collaborative coursework.

The UD Visual Communications Program—one of three undergraduate art and design degrees offered at UD—has an outstanding reputation. The VC degree builds on our two-year Core curriculum through a series of courses intended to inspire inquiry in the art of communication design and to impart applicable skills in various design methodologies.

Our program engages students in an educational experience where they learn by doing. In our small classes students have intense studio experiences, exploring their creativity, developing skills, and designing across all media. Through internships, study abroad programs, field trips and visiting artists and designers, our graduates leave school already plugged-in to their career path.

The biological sciences curriculum helps students develop an understanding of principles governing biological processes that span a continuum from molecules and cells to organisms and ecosystems. The biology education major develops students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills which are essential for making informed decisions about issues that relate to science, technology, the environment and teaching biology.?

A multilingual brain is more agile and better able to solve problems and conflicts. Language learners demonstrate superior cognitive performance throughout their lives.

Over half of the world’s population is bilingual or multilingual, while only one in five U.S. citizens speaks a language other than English. Knowledge of other languages and cultures gives our graduates a competitive advantage in any career, and is highly valued in international business and professional communities. Our graduates choose a variety of career paths in teaching, entertainment and media, government, travel, financial services or international business. Some students enter careers with international or non-governmental organizations such as the International Red Cross or the World Health Organization, while others go on to advanced degrees in preparation for work in international law, diplomacy and college teaching.

Chemistry involves the study of solids, liquids and gases; and the transformations they undergo in combination with each other. Chemists engage in observation, analysis, and experimentation, breaking natural substances down into their components, replicating in the laboratory chemical processes that occur in the physical world and creating substances to fulfill specific needs. Chemical discoveries play an important role in helping us understand the world around us. Biochemistry, the study of chemical compounds and processes that occur in living organisms, has emerged as a field with growing impact on our ability to diagnose and treat diseases in animals, plants and humans.

The UD Ancient Greek and Roman Studies Program provides students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture and civilization of Ancient Greece and Rome. As a program of study, Ancient Greek and Roman Studies concerns itself with all aspects of ancient Greek and Roman culture and its influence through the Middle Ages and Renaissance up to the present day. The program focuses not just on Greek and Roman language and literature but also on material culture (art history and archaeology); on economic, political, social and intellectual history; and on philosophy, religion and myth. Unlike most other areas of study, Ancient Greek and Roman Studies is truly interdisciplinary and—as such—provides a unique experience for students with many different interests and intended career paths.

The management major combines a strong liberal arts foundation with a hands-on professional education that prepares you to think critically, creatively and collaboratively when solutions are needed for challenging problems in business.

Our faculty work hard to help you understand what it takes to be an effective manager. You learn how to be successful when negotiating and resolving conflict with others. In addition, the major gives you flexibility because you can focus on the area of management that’s most relevant to your career goals. You can choose between Business Leadership and Human Resources.

• The Business Leadership track includes courses that focus on leading change in businesses and understanding different approaches to leadership and team dynamics.
• The Human Resources (HR) track includes courses that provide a broad understanding of the functions of HR (such as recruitment, selection and training) as well as how to prepare HR management for the future of business.

You’ll also choose elective courses from a number of options including:

• International Business Management
• Ethics in the Workplace
• Selected topics in Management
• Consulting and Project Management
• Small Business Management

The international business studies (IBS) major is designed to prepare you to conduct business successfully around the world.

By placing equal emphasis on business and international studies, including advanced language training and a semester abroad, the IBS program will teach you to apply business principles to a region of the world in that region’s native language.

This specialized international training will give you excellent preparation for a wide variety of careers as markets continue to become more globalized.

If you enjoy living and working in different cultures, speaking different languages and interacting with people from various regions of the world, IBS is the major for you.

Students studying chemistry education engage in observation, analysis, synthesis and experimentation, breaking natural substances down into their component parts, replicating in the laboratory chemical processes that occur in the physical world and creating new substances to fulfill specific needs. The courses offered in the chemistry education major emphasize the practical application of the principles of chemistry and students learn how chemical knowledge can benefit humankind and society.

Spanish is the second-most popular language in the world, spoken by more than 400 million people. A major in Spanish Studies enables students to communicate with people of different linguistic and cultural backgrounds and helps foster understanding between cultures in our global society.

The ability to use a foreign language and to employ knowledge about another culture is highly valued by the business and professional communities, and multilingualism and intercultural competence are essential credentials for leadership today in diverse fields. Our graduates choose a variety of career paths: some become teachers, translators or interpreters; others are employed in publishing, broadcasting, government, international travel, financial services or other areas of international business. Coupled with other expertise acquired in joint or double majors, Spanish majors have opportunities in international marketing, advertising and other communications industries. Some students enter careers with international organizations such as the United Nations, International Red Cross or the World Health Organization, while others go on to advanced degrees in preparation for work in international law, diplomacy and college teaching.
