The Genetics:Genomics program (GEN) explores the world of genetics and genomics in plants, animals, and microbes. Genomics is the study of genomes and includes topics like DNA structure and function, high-throughput sequencing, and computational comparison of the genomes of different organisms. The Genetics faculty strongly value hands-on learning and many GEN students conduct undergraduate research under the supervision of our faculty. GEN graduates are prepared for successful careers in biotechnology fields or for entry into a variety of graduate school or health professional programs.

If you have graduated within the last five years with a Bachelor of Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)-accredited program with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better, you are eligible to apply for the advanced standing M.S.W. degree at UNH. Professional social workers make a difference in people’s lives, communities and society. An M.S.W. is a professional degree that will prepare you for work in fields such as healthcare, education, substance abuse, child welfare, employee assistance programs, policy and advocacy, and other human services and social welfare related areas. The Oceanography (OCE) graduate program has a diverse set of faculty, staff, and students who examine ocean processes in broad fields of physical, biological, chemical, and geological oceanography and geophysics.  Basic and applied research of an experimental, numerical, and analytical nature is conducted in oceanic settings that range from shallow nearshore and estuarine waters to the deep ocean and span all ocean basins on earth including the Arctic. 

These interdisciplinary programs prepare students for professional careers in ocean-relate fields.  In addition, students can also pursue an ocean mapping option within the Department of Earth Sciences and carried out within the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping.

Students choosing the Digital Media option use coursework and hands-on learning to explore the intersections of technology, creativity and artistry with a focus on audio, video and web-based media. Students gain a comprehensive overview of the different stages of a digital media project, from writing and pre-production through production and post-production. Courses cover topics such as web authoring and multimedia, audio and video production, social media and public relations, ethics and law in the digital age, and motion graphics. An internship in the area of digital media is required.

This fast-track program is designed for students with an interest in history who also intend to pursue a law degree. In the history program, you’ll learn valuable critical thinking and communication skills while examining the past and how it informs the present. You’ll begin studying law in your senior year, simultaneously completing your bachelor’s degree in history. After two more years of study, you’ll have completed your law degree in six years, rather than the standard seven.

The Biomedical Science: Medical and Veterinary Sciences (BMS:MVS) program is founded on the principles of the One Health Initiative, which unites human and veterinary medicine.  This rigorous academic program meets requirements for entry into veterinary school, medical school, and graduate school in the area of biomedical science or for a career as a research scientist in either the biotechnology/pharmaceutical sector or government and academic research labs.

You’ll work directly with clinicians to help manage the delivery of patient care, including the development and implementation of treatment plans and the evaluation of their success.

The master of arts in liberal studies (M.A.L.S.) is an innovative, interdisciplinary graduate program, intended to promote broad intellectual comprehension and enrichment rather than vocational or professional training within a single field or discipline. Housed within the College of Liberal Arts but drawing its courses and instructors from across the University, the program makes available a diverse spectrum of offerings and a wealth of faculty expertise and resources. The program addresses the particular interests of students who seek to deepen their knowledge by designing their own challenging but flexible program of cross-disciplinary learning.
