The 12-credit forensic mental health concentration prepares students for counseling specifically focused on care of offenders or victims in forensic settings.

Program Outcomes

• Students will demonstrate competence in all 8 core domains of counseling, as well as the concentration of clinical mental health counseling.
• Students successfully synthesize major theoretical concepts in the core counseling curriculum and their concentration area with their practicum experience.
• Students demonstrate, at a professional level, applied intervention skills in the internship.

The program consists of 60 credits, 48 of which compose the core curriculum completed by all students, and 12 of which constitute one of three concentration areas: general, forensic mental health, or community development.

The bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity is nationally accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (CAC/ABET).  Its objectives are to inform, challenge, and train our diverse student body for a constantly changing world of technology. This program develops a solid body of knowledge and understanding of computer hardware, software, and theory, as defined by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) curriculum guidelines. The concentration in cybersecurity embodies part of the NSA Cyber Operations requirements.

Students enrolled in this concentration will enter the cybersecurity workforce as cybersecurity analysts, engineers, offensive security specialists, responders, and investigators, depending on their course choices.

With a biomedical engineering master’s degree from the University of New Haven you will be superbly prepared to take your place in the field as a competent engineer with skills set sought by the global market and as a researcher capable of independent investigation. Students earning a B.A. degree in communication with a concentration in multi-platform journalism and media  will build specialized knowledge and skills related to journalism, television, and video production across a variety of platforms and formats in addition to a solid grounding in communication fundamentals.  Through coursework emphasizing writing and production, real world fieldwork opportunities, internships, and a practicum connected to the Charger Bulletin newspaper and television shows, students will learn to become competent and well-rounded media professionals.

While Homeland Security deals with threats from within the U.S., national security combats terrorist threats that come from abroad. As a national security major at the University of New Haven, you will develop the knowledge and skills you will need for a career with the CIA, the FBI, the NSA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of State, or the Department of Defense. Through the renowned Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences, you will prepare to work for your country as an intelligence analyst by:

• Developing a proficiency in foreign languages through at least two years of study (Russian, Chinese or Arabic are suggested)

Our program is a great choice for those who’ve recently completed an undergraduate degree or who are looking to continue their education straight out of college. The program’s schedule allows for students to complete the program in as few as 12 months for those who meet the criteria to waive the three business foundation courses, and carry a 12-credit hour load. Students who do not meet the waiver criteria may complete the program in less than two years.

The concentration develops the strategic approach to effective management of an organization’s workforce.

The International Business - Accounting degree is designed to provide in-depth expertise in the discipline of accounting while it concurrently provides students with a broader, global business perspective. Such perspective is essential to operating in today’s increasing complex multi-national business context. The program ensures students have a proficiency in a second language, enhanced socio-cultural awareness and a robust study abroad experience. Today’s business climate is marked by fluid and interconnected financial markets, widely available technological advancements that increase global connectivity, increased international trade, and the emergence of vibrant growing economies in what were formerly considered third world countries. Increased globalization has necessitated that managers have a broad, holistic perspective that incorporates the diverse components of an international business degree. Such a degree will become increasingly valuable as the trends associated with 21st century commerce progress.

Program Outcomes

• Students will demonstrate understanding of financial accounting, managerial accounting, cost accounting, taxation, and auditing concepts needed by entry level accounting staffs.
• Students will evaluate how the cultural and legal differences between the country in which they studied abroad and the U.S. would impact how they operate in that country.
• Students earning a B.S. degree in international business - accounting are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).    Further clarification and additional requirements are outlined below

Candidates are required to complete a minimum of 36 credits of graduate work, which may include an internship in national security. Transfer credit from other institutions may be permitted subject to the Graduate School policy on transfer credit detailed elsewhere in this catalog.

Students in the program are required to complete 18 credits of core courses and 18 credits of general electives.  Students must complete a capstone requirement of either NSPS 6693 - National Security Internship I or NSPS 6697 Thesis I and NSPS 6698 Thesis II.  If the six credit thesis option is selected, NSPS 6698 will count toward electives.

Program Outcomes:

• Develop a working knowledge of the most prominent features national security with an emphasis on the United States’ national security enterprise.
• Acquire a foundational understanding and awareness of issues related to cyber security and information protection.
• Formulate original research through graduate-level thesis or acquire practitioner work experience through an internship.
