You will study, and receive training in, various forms of forensic field technology such as ground penetrating radar, laser scanners, portable instruments, and biometric devices. The utilization of these instruments are critical to modern criminal investigations. Also, restricted electives associated with the program allow you to develop specialized knowledge in areas such as bloodstain pattern analysis, firearms evidence, and forensic anthropology.

You will complete a minimum of 42 credits of graduate work, which includes a required internship or research project designed to fulfill the Master of Science Capstone requirement. That need is steadily increasing as the world’s resources continue to shrink and cost effectiveness becomes paramount. Right now, the demand for industrial and systems engineers is actually greater than the current labor pool.

Collaborating with each other, our engineering faculty, future employers, students, alumni, and business and industry professionals designed and built an innovative program that teaches you to:

The Master of Public Administration is the most widely accepted and valued professional degree in the field of Public Service. Our MPA program provides students with the core skills and knowledge necessary to be a successful professional in Public Service, as well as offering students an opportunity to complete a concentration in one of five timely areas: 1) Municipal Management, 2) Public Financial Management, 3) Public Safety, 4) Nonprofit Management, and 5) Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Our MPA accommodates the needs of students new to the field as well as those already working in public service. In both cases, we seek students who are motivated to increase their knowledge and gain the skills necessary to take on challenging assignments in public service, particularly at the state and local level.

The Public Safety concentration is designed to give students a focused background in local and state Public Safety, from the perspectives of Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, Fire Science, or National Security. In consultation with their academic advisor, students who choose this concentration must choose three courses (9 credits) from the array of graduate public safety courses offered by the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences.  Course include those from within the domains of Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Fire Science, Investigations, Legal Studies or National Security as well as others that are approved by the student’s academic advisor.

Not all of the bad guys are out roaming the streets. Many of them work indoors, plying their “trade” in cyber crime and a host of devastatingly destructive financial crimes. Want to help fend off their attacks? Go on offense with our B.S. in Business Management with a concentration in Criminal Justice — and prepare to manage the security forces, cybersecurity professionals and other experts who stay one-step ahead of fraudsters and other white-collar criminals. Just imagine the immense satisfaction you’ll have in helping to bust them.

You’ll have the skills and knowledge needed to direct such operations through a program that provides a powerful combination of human resource and financial management expertise, marketing and business strategy, and the critical competencies inherent in a criminal justice concentration. One of only a small number of such programs in the United States, our master’s program in fire and explosion investigation offers 39 credits* of interdisciplinary coursework in fire/arson investigation, emergency management, public safety, and more. Students in the program study alongside leading professionals in the fire service including current and former fire and police chiefs, homeland security executives, private investigators, and insurance agents. Successful alumni have moved on to leadership positions in local fire departments, state and federal emergency agencies, and private firms.

Students take required courses in topics such as the chemistry of fires, dynamics of structural fires, and arson analysis. Candidates will also chose from a series of electives that explores issues, including fire and building codes, fire scene reconstruction, terrorism, and industrial fire protection.

The B.S. in Health Sciences combines basic scientific knowledge, healthcare industry specific knowledge, and practical skills for students to be competitive in the 21st century healthcare workforce. The program addresses both the administrative and technical aspects of healthcare as well as the professional, social, ethical, and political elements.  Courses provide broad technical skills as well as the organizational competencies needed for entry level positions in a wide range of healthcare organizations and companies, as well as preparation for graduate study in clinical professions.  In particular, this program aims to provide a broad, interdisciplinary training for students interested in clinical and non-clinical health fields including but not limited to medicine, population health, clinical research administration, and healthcare administration.  The B.S. in Health Sciences also offers two optional concentrations: Speech-Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy.  Each of these concentrations focuses on a specific healthcare profession and is designed to prepare students for graduate school in an area of specialization.

The 12-credit forensic mental health concentration prepares students for counseling specifically focused on care of offenders or victims in forensic settings.

Program Outcomes

• Students will demonstrate competence in all 8 core domains of counseling, as well as the concentration of clinical mental health counseling.
• Students successfully synthesize major theoretical concepts in the core counseling curriculum and their concentration area with their practicum experience.
• Students demonstrate, at a professional level, applied intervention skills in the internship.

The program consists of 60 credits, 48 of which compose the core curriculum completed by all students, and 12 of which constitute one of three concentration areas: general, forensic mental health, or community development.

In the digital age, the artist’s palette overflows with new opportunities for creative expression in industries that barely existed a decade ago.  The BFA in Graphic Design - Digital Art and Design concentration is tailored for students who seek training in the latest technologies and the chance to transform the visual landscape of technologies yet to come.

The introductory courses in the graphic design program concentrate on basic design vocabulary, composition, color perception, and drawing. Students apply long-established principles to the evolving aesthetics of computer-generated art and electronic media. The BFA in Graphic Design - Digital Art and Design concentration prepares students for successful careers in design, whether that be in print, web, or multimedia and graduates are poised to make meaningful and culturally notable contributions in the digital arts. Additionally, the rigorous course of study provides students with the foundation to continue with graduate studies in the field.

The Hotel and Resort Management Concentration focuses on training students to fulfill management-level careers in hotel and resort industries. After gaining functional business competencies, students specialize in areas that are critical to success in a range of leadership and managerial positions within hotels, restaurants, spas, resorts, clubs, and theme parks. Students in this concentration are exposed to several experiential learning and industry collaboration opportunities.

Students earning a B.S. degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a concentration in Hotel and Resort Management are required to complete 121 credits, including the University core curriculum (41 credits), Hospitality and Tourism Management major requirements (36 credits), Hotel and Resort Management concentration (12 credits), Writing Across the Curriculum elective (3 credits), fieldwork (2 credits), service requirement (1 credit), internship (3 credits) and free electives (23 credits).
