The Master of Public Administration is the most widely accepted and valued professional degree in the field of Public Service. Our MPA program provides students with the core skills and knowledge necessary to be a successful professional in Public Service, as well as offering students an opportunity to complete a concentration in one of five timely areas: 1) Municipal Management, 2) Public Financial Management, 3) Public Safety, 4) Nonprofit Management, and 5) Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Our MPA accommodates the needs of students new to the field as well as those already working in public service. In both cases, we seek students who are motivated to increase their knowledge and gain the skills necessary to take on challenging assignments in public service, particularly at the state and local level.

The general purpose of this concentration is to prepare men and women at the graduate level to lead fire and emergency medical service organizations. The program strives to equip students with modern analytic and quantitative tools of decision making and their application to complex problems of government and non-profit organizations. The program will increase the student’s knowledge and skills in the particular management functions of budgeting, planning, public policy formulation, public finance, public personnel administration, and collective bargaining.

Students earning a B.A. degree in communication with a concentration in film production and media entrepreneurship will build the knowledge and skills related to film production in addition to a solid grounding in communication entrepreneurial fundamentals.  Through coursework emphasizing writing, production, and distribution, as well as laboratory and available internship opportunities, students will learn to become competent and well-rounded film production professionals.

Students earning a B.A. degree in communication with a concentration in film production and media entrepreneurship are required to complete a total of 121 credits as follows.

Students earning a B.S. degree in Business Management are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).  The major allows the flexibility to minor in a wide array of related areas such as entrepreneurship or marketing.

The University of New Haven's computer science program is one of the best in the country. Its research, program offerings, multidisciplinary approach, and performance in cyber competitions, among other factors, led to the University being designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) by the National Security Agency. While just about everyone knows how to use a computer, the computer scientist understands how the transfer of information from a computer to a human actually works. The bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity is nationally accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (CAC/ABET).  Its objectives are to inform, challenge, and train our diverse student body for a constantly changing world of technology. This program develops a solid body of knowledge and understanding of computer hardware, software, and theory, as defined by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) curriculum guidelines. The concentration in cybersecurity embodies part of the NSA Cyber Operations requirements.

Students enrolled in this concentration will enter the cybersecurity workforce as cybersecurity analysts, engineers, offensive security specialists, responders, and investigators, depending on their course choices.

To a large extent, so does the health, safety, and welfare of the individuals in that society. In fact, civil engineers have saved more lives, through clean water and sanitation systems, than all of the doctors in history.

In the University of New Haven’s B.S. in civil engineering program, students participate in a multi-disciplinary curriculum that combines mathematics, science, communication, humanities, and social science with a broad base of civil engineering technologies.

Students earning a B.A. degree in communication with a concentration in multi-platform journalism and media  will build specialized knowledge and skills related to journalism, television, and video production across a variety of platforms and formats in addition to a solid grounding in communication fundamentals.  Through coursework emphasizing writing and production, real world fieldwork opportunities, internships, and a practicum connected to the Charger Bulletin newspaper and television shows, students will learn to become competent and well-rounded media professionals.

• Students completing the program will be able to demonstrate specific interpersonal and applied communication skills in human communication theory; convergent media production aesthetics, theory and technical areas; media writing and journalism.
