Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

In the University of New Haven’s B.S. in civil engineering program, students participate in a multi-disciplinary curriculum that combines mathematics, science, communication, humanities, and social science with a broad base of civil engineering technologies.

You will examine the resolutions of international conflicts, the role of inequality as a cause of conflict – and a critical component of its resolution – and explore post-conflict peace-making. Unlike the traditional model of medicine, which is centered on diagnosing and treating illness in individual patients, those in the field of public health focus on the prevention of disease in the general public and on educating them to improve wellness.

Those who enter this field must be able to think strategically about the many forces that impact public health — the environment, relationships, and education, to name just a few. They must also be prepared to lead, boldly rising to the challenges, rigors, and changes that define public health and health systems in the 21st century.

Our B.S. in Public Health program prepares students to enter this field by providing them with a foundation in epidemiology, biostatistics, social and behavioral sciences, healthcare administration, and environmental health as well as the strategic thinking, administrative, planning, data collection and analysis, and communication skills that employers value highly and which lay the foundation for a lifetime of career success.

Students must complete a total of 126 credits to earn the bachelor of science degree in computer engineering. Humanities or social science electives must be selected to fulfill the University Core Curriculum requirements, and students must complete the internship requirement.

Technical electives are 3000-level or higher CSCI or ELEC courses that fit into the student’s plan of study and are approved by the academic adviser. One technical elective may be taken outside the specified areas with the approval of the academic adviser. In the final year of study the student takes a two-semester senior design sequence, CMPE 4497 and CMPE 4498. In the first semester the student selects a topic, completes a literature search, and commences the design process. In the second semester, the student completes the design, implements the project, and presents the results.

The objective of the Master of Science in Accounting program is to provide an in-depth framework for artificial intelligence (AI)/analytics, corporate, forensic, and taxation accounting inquiry, devised in structure and content from the entire scope and process of accounting-information-based economic decision-making. The existence of such a framework is intended to provide graduate accountants and professional practitioners with an opportunity to share in the development and assessment of issues of accounting interest within a decision-making context. Additionally, the Master of Science in Accounting program is designed to provide non-accountants and practitioners with the accounting credits requisite for certification.

Program Outcomes:

  • Students will demonstrate familiarity with the fundamental concepts and knowledge in their concentration areas of Corporate, Forensic, Tax, or AI/Analytics.
  • Students will be able to apply knowledge from 1.1 toward analysis and analyze data using technology and information systems and using appropriate quantitative and analytical techniques.
  • Students will able to integrate knowledge from functional Accounting areas and formulate solutions that consider both the internal and the external environments of an organization.
  • Students will be able to analyze the effects of business transactions using Accounting fundamentals.

The 12-credit community development concentration provides students with additional skills focused on the administration of both traditional and non-traditional programs and services. The concentration addresses planning, development, and evaluation of innovative approaches to treatment and prevention in the public and private human service sectors as well as in business and industry.

  • Students will demonstrate competence in all 8 core domains of counseling, as well as the concentration of clinical mental health counseling.
