• Medical devices such as artificial lungs, replacement heart valves, pacemakers, dental implants, catheters, stents, and hip and knee prostheses

With a biomedical engineering master’s degree from the University of New Haven you will be superbly prepared to take your place in the field as a competent engineer with skills set sought by the global market and as a researcher capable of independent investigation. You will also have another skill to add to your set— the ability to present results of an independent investigation cogently. In the 21st century, engineers are expected to be comfortable in communicating their ideas and findings. In fact, it has become a must for employers.

The 12-credit community development concentration provides students with additional skills focused on the administration of both traditional and non-traditional programs and services. The concentration addresses planning, development, and evaluation of innovative approaches to treatment and prevention in the public and private human service sectors as well as in business and industry.

Program Outcomes:

• Students will demonstrate competence in all 8 core domains of counseling, as well as the concentration of clinical mental health counseling.
• Students successfully synthesize major theoretical concepts in the core counseling curriculum and their concentration area with their practicum experience.
• Students demonstrate, at a professional level, applied intervention skills in the internship.

The program consists of 60 credits, 48 of which compose the core curriculum completed by all students, and 12 of which constitute one of three concentration areas: general, forensic mental health, or community development.

Students earning a B.A. degree in communication with a concentration in multi-platform journalism and media  will build specialized knowledge and skills related to journalism, television, and video production across a variety of platforms and formats in addition to a solid grounding in communication fundamentals.  Through coursework emphasizing writing and production, real world fieldwork opportunities, internships, and a practicum connected to the Charger Bulletin newspaper and television shows, students will learn to become competent and well-rounded media professionals.

Program Outcomes

• Students completing the program will be able to demonstrate specific interpersonal and applied communication skills in human communication theory; convergent media production aesthetics, theory and technical areas; media writing and journalism.
• Students will have the ability to be effective team members in newsroom, news websites and public relations firms and offices.

The Absolute Value of the 2022 Mathematics Research Community

The American Mathematics Society (AMS) has accepted a proposal by faculty members — including the University of New Haven’s Daniel Cicala — for a Mathematics Research Community on Applied Category Theory to be held in the summer of 2022. The faculty will lead 40 early-career mathematicians through an intensive week of research on that topic. The AMS Mathematics Research Communities is a professional development program for mathematicians who are just starting out. The program helps them develop collaborative research skills and build a network centered around an active research domain. Mentoring from leaders in the specific topic area and valuable career guidance are also part of the equation.

The International Business - Accounting degree is designed to provide in-depth expertise in the discipline of accounting while it concurrently provides students with a broader, global business perspective. Such perspective is essential to operating in today’s increasing complex multi-national business context. The program ensures students have a proficiency in a second language, enhanced socio-cultural awareness and a robust study abroad experience. Today’s business climate is marked by fluid and interconnected financial markets, widely available technological advancements that increase global connectivity, increased international trade, and the emergence of vibrant growing economies in what were formerly considered third world countries. Increased globalization has necessitated that managers have a broad, holistic perspective that incorporates the diverse components of an international business degree. Program Outcomes

• Students will demonstrate understanding of financial accounting, managerial accounting, cost accounting, taxation, and auditing concepts needed by entry level accounting staffs.
• Students will evaluate how the cultural and legal differences between the country in which they studied abroad and the U.S. would impact how they operate in that country.

The University of New Haven’s M.S. in Chemistry is a practiced-based program that will enable you to take an integrative approach to solving practical chemistry problems and prepare you to pursue a career in a variety of fields.

You’ll begin by gaining a broad background in chemical theories, computational chemistry methods, analysis of experimental data, design of chemical materials, modern organic chemistry, design of molecular drugs, the design of sustainable chemical processes, and current challenges in the field of chemistry.
