In biology, there are questions to be asked and problems to be solved. Through the biology program at the University of New Haven, you will learn to do both successfully, applying the theoretical knowledge you gain in the classroom in hands-on laboratory activities and engaging in field work right from the start.

A total of 30-36 credits are required for completion of the master of science in Sport Management (depending on the choice of concentration). The program is made up of a Sport Management core that is common to each of the concentrations (consisting of six Sport Management courses) and a set of concentration courses (consisting of between four and six courses tailored to that particular segment of the Sport Management discipline).

The M.S. in Sport Management with a concentration in Collegiate Athletic Administration (30 credits) is a focused degree designed to provide an understanding of the management of college athletic departments/programs. 

The International Business - Marketing degree is designed to provide in-depth expertise in the discipline of marketing while it concurrently provides students with a broader, global business perspective. Such perspective is essential to operating in today’s increasing complex multi-national business context. The program ensures students have a proficiency in a second language, enhanced socio-cultural awareness and a robust study abroad experience. Today’s business climate is marked by fluid and interconnected financial markets, widely available technological advancements that increase global connectivity, increased international trade, and the emergence of vibrant growing economies in what were formerly considered third world countries. Increased globalization has necessitated that managers have a broad, holistic perspective that incorporates the diverse components of an international business degree. Such a degree will become increasingly valuable as the trends associated with 21st century commerce progress.

Program Outcomes

• Students will be competent in understanding institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.
• Students will evaluate how the cultural and legal differences between the country in which they studied abroad and the U.S. would impact how they operate in that country.
• Students earning a B.S. degree in international business - marketing are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).   Further clarification and additional requirements are outlined below:

The Concentrations That Carve Out Your Future Career Path

Our M.S. in Human Resources program offers aspiring leaders three areas of concentration:

• Talent Management. You will create plans to recruit, hire, train, retain, and motivate a diverse and global workforce.
• Organizational Leadership. You will develop advanced interaction skills in working effectively with others as well the change management skills that will make you an influential leader.
• Employee Relations. You will use and apply conflict intervention and negotiation strategies in the management and resolution of workplace disputes.

A paramedic has a level of knowledge, skill, and treatment capabilities that are significantly beyond those of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and which can dramatically improve a patient’s outcome at the hospital. In response to the need for these uniquely trained emergency medical care professionals, the University of New Haven developed its paramedicine program. This program will prepare you to become a new breed of first responder – one who holds dual certification as both a firefighter and as a paramedic.

Hands-on learning will be a major part of your education. You’ll ride along with ambulance services and take patients’ vitals. You’ll practice doing chest compressions and starting IV lines on high-fidelity mannequins. You’ll become part of teams who care for patients in whatever medical emergency unfolds. The goal of the paramedicine program is to make your education as real-world as it gets.

Through this program, offered in conjunction with Yale New Haven Hospital, you will also:

• Become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
• Gain more than 700 hours of clinical and internship experience through multiple models of EMS services, including hospital-based and fire-based
• Expand your knowledge through classes in anatomy and physiology at the Yale University School of Medicine
• Become eligible to sit for the National Registry Paramedic exam at the completion of your studies
• Have a chance to join the Pre-Health Professions (PHP) Scholars Program, which can serve as a launching pad for pursuing a career or further study in healthcare

With a strong emphasis on project-based learning, this unique program was developed for students aspiring for professional growth in managing operations and organizations in the global market by creating a unique blend of state-of-the-art engineering methodologies with key components of business-related topics including finance, marketing, and management theory.

Especially valuable to professional individuals with a number of years of experience in industry and entrepreneurs, applicants are required to hold a four-year baccalaureate degree in engineering or a related field.

Program highlights include:

• Advanced education in the use of scarce resources, managing workforce teams, establishing effective supply chains, assuring high-quality products and services, establishing customer relationships, and planning successful organizational operations
• Business basics such as finance, marketing, and organizational change and development topics
• An accelerated M.S. in Engineering and Operations Management Cohort Program for working professionals with courses in the following formats: (1) meeting one afternoon per week in West Haven and New London, (2) are online, or (3) are hybrid (partially online)

The B.S. in Health Sciences combines basic scientific knowledge, healthcare industry specific knowledge, and practical skills for students to be competitive in the 21st century healthcare workforce. The program addresses both the administrative and technical aspects of healthcare as well as the professional, social, ethical, and political elements.  Courses provide broad technical skills as well as the organizational competencies needed for entry level positions in a wide range of healthcare organizations and companies, as well as preparation for graduate study in clinical professions.  In particular, this program aims to provide a broad, interdisciplinary training for students interested in clinical and non-clinical health fields including but not limited to medicine, population health, clinical research administration, and healthcare administration.  The B.S. in Health Sciences also offers two optional concentrations: Speech-Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy.  Each of these concentrations focuses on a specific healthcare profession and is designed to prepare students for graduate school in an area of specialization.
