With a biomedical engineering master’s degree from the University of New Haven you will be superbly prepared to take your place in the field as a competent engineer with skills set sought by the global market and as a researcher capable of independent investigation. In Connecticut alone, job openings for civil and environmental engineers are expected to grow by 13.8 percent through 2022, which is higher than the aggregate rate of growth for all occupations in the state.

Federal funding for sustainable and "green" development has also led to an increase in environmentallyfriendly infrastructure projects, which has driven demand for civil and environmental engineers.

As an English major at the University of New Haven, you’ll study contemporary fiction and poetry while you explore public speaking and writing for business. You’ll develop and hone an exceptional writing ability, develop critical thinking skills, and learn to communicate with clarity and strength through the written and spoken word.

Thirty credits in English beyond the first year writing courses are required for a major in English.  Students completing a B.A. in English must complete the English Core, and the requirements for one of the concentrations in English (concentration in literature or concentration in writing).  In addition, they must complete 40 credits of the University Core Curriculum with the following restrictions:

• ENGL courses cannot be used to satisfy CC 8 or CC 9
• A student can take no more than one ENGL course in Tier 2 of CC 1

Make the Switch!
An additional feature of the program caters to those wishing to switch fields into the computer science realm. We have prepared a set of six bridge courses to help you transition from your previous background to a level of readiness that enables you to successfully pursue the rest of the degree program. The bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity is nationally accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (CAC/ABET).  Its objectives are to inform, challenge, and train our diverse student body for a constantly changing world of technology. This program develops a solid body of knowledge and understanding of computer hardware, software, and theory, as defined by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) curriculum guidelines. The concentration in cybersecurity embodies part of the NSA Cyber Operations requirements.

Students enrolled in this concentration will enter the cybersecurity workforce as cybersecurity analysts, engineers, offensive security specialists, responders, and investigators, depending on their course choices.

The bachelor of science in fire science is offered with a choice of two concentrations to allow the student to major in fire science and specialize in an area of interest. The concentration areas are fire/arson investigation and fire administration

Program Outcomes:

• To use the scientific method to determine the origin and cause of a fire.  Evaluate fire load, fire
• development and burn patterns to determine the intensity and progression of the fire and the impact of fire code deficiencies.
• Students should be able to effectively communicate in writing their findings and have them submitted for evaluation, approval and implementation.
• Students should be able to determine if a fire was accidental, natural, incendiary in nature or must be considered undetermined. Work with outside agencies to establish party, item or circumstances responsible for ignition scenario.
• Students should identify hazardous materials or other safety hazards and the appropriate course of mitigation necessary to render a fire scene reasonably safe to investigate.

Our Cybersecurity and Networks program prepares you for these careers with a combination of practical skills and cutting-edge knowledge, leading you to success as an Information Security Analyst, Digital Forensic Examiner, Network Engineer, or System Administrator — to name just a few of your possible career titles.

There are two versions to the program. One version is for those who already hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field, while the other is for those with no prior education in these areas. Those coming to the program without this education simply complete a set of four additional bridge courses on the topics of programming and computer systems. These will help you transition from your previous background to a level of readiness that enables you to successfully pursue the rest of the degree program.

A Serious Project Prepares You for the Real World of Cybersecurity and Networks

You will complete a substantial project that will demonstrate your level of expertise and professionalism so that you can hit the ground running when you land that coveted position in your chosen area. There are three ways to satisfy the project requirement: a thesis for which research would be done; taking a course in which a significant project occurs; or taking a separate course specifically dedicated to a project.

The Master of Science in Taxation at the University of New Haven attracts a wide range of accountants, attorneys, executives, and government employees, but it’s an even bigger draw for those hoping to become CPAs. Connecticut law requires CPA candidates to complete 150 academic credit hours of coursework in order to sit for the CPA exam. This program provides those hours.

• Demonstrate ability to convey economic concepts via data visualization.
• Students will evaluate how the cultural and legal differences between the country in which they studied abroad and the U.S. would impact how they operate in that country.
• Students earning a B.S. degree in international business - economics are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).    Further clarification and additional requirements are outlined below:

The Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry is a dynamic program that provides the intellectual tools to address these questions and presents creative opportunities to learn from professionals to craft the answers. Students take a unique balance of courses that prepare you for technology-driven careers in record company operations, touring and concert promotion, artist management, marketing in the digital realm, music supervision, music publishing, and other industry roles.

A degree in Music Industry focuses on business and legal concepts as they apply to the commodification of the art form of music. Our program, in combination with courses from the Pompea College of Business, provides students with a foundation in the economic and creative structures of the music industry and introduces them to the varied possibilities to utilize that knowledge.

We believe that, to apply these practices, students should have significant knowledge of and experience with the art form itself. As such, students have a selection of course options in the theory, practice, performance, and histories of music and the processes and technologies for recording music.

Comprehensive instruction in combination with practical internship opportunities and interactions with industry professionals provides students with the 21st-century background necessary for numerous industry opportunities and for pursuing innovative and entrepreneurial business endeavors.
