Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

The University’s full-time MBA program, which is one of only two in Connecticut – and less than 30 across the U.S. – that offer concentrations that are STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) certified by the federal government, enables you to both master new skills through rigorous coursework and build a portfolio of experience through internships and real-world learning opportunities that will prepare you to excel.

Our program is a great choice for those who’ve recently completed an undergraduate degree or who are looking to continue their education straight out of college. The program’s schedule allows for students to complete the program in as few as 12 months for those who meet the criteria to waive the three business foundation courses, and carry a 12-credit hour load. Students who do not meet the waiver criteria may complete the program in less than two years.

 Marketing and Digital Marketing

This concentration provides students with the technical skills to use digital analytics and managerial prowess to strategically implement marketing decisions related to business operations. It provides the tools necessary to collect, identify, and understand patterns that allow the organization to make informed data-driven decisions regarding the consumer economy. These skills are especially relevant with the continued growth of Big Data and the increasingly sophisticated computing techniques used to mine it. With a specific focus on the application of marketing data analysis, the program features insights in consumer behavior, Big Data, and analytics applied to real-world marketing challenges across various industries. The R-programming language is a central part of the concentration’s design.

The mission of University of New Haven’s Master of Public Health (MPH) program is to prepare healthcare professionals who prevent disease, promote health, and protect the well-being of the public through education, practice, research, and service.

Through our program, you will gain the leadership skills, innovative mindset, and background in evidence-based decision-making that are required to excel in the field of public health. You will also curate the professional, social, ethical, and political understanding of health you need to succeed from in- and out-of-the-classroom experiences. As a student you will learn public health by doing public health.

Our core curriculum provides the broad foundation in key areas including epidemiology, biostatistics, social and behavioral sciences, healthcare administration, and environmental health, along with more advanced coursework focusing on the range of issues relevant to public health today, including global health, healthcare leadership, public health ethics, public health law, and public health practice, planning, and evaluation.

The B.A. in psychology program requires the completion of 122 credits, 53-62 of which are required to complete the major.

The objective of the Master of Science in Accounting program is to provide an in-depth framework for artificial intelligence (AI)/analytics, corporate, forensic, and taxation accounting inquiry, devised in structure and content from the entire scope and process of accounting-information-based economic decision-making. Designed for both new graduates and those already employed in the public sector seeking advancement, the MPA program in the Department of Public Management provides students with the opportunity to increase knowledge and gain the skills necessary to take on challenging assignments in budgeting, planning, public policy formulation, public finance, public personnel administration, and collective bargaining. The interdisciplinary program offers twelve courses — nine required courses and three elective or concentration courses. Students earning a B.A. degree in communication with a concentration in public relations and digital media will build specialized knowledge and skills related to public relations across a variety of platforms and contexts in addition to acquiring a solid grounding in digital media production.  Through coursework emphasizing writing, campaigns, and persuasion, as well as laboratory and field experiences in digital media design and production along with internship opportunities, students will learn to become competent and well-rounded public relations professionals.
