The Graduate Concentration in Global Strategic Leadership provides deep knowledge in topics that will help students navigate the increasingly complex global business environment, such as leadership and team building, corporate economics, corporate human resources, cross-cultural management, and strategic management.

The Master of Science in Information Technology Management (ITM) program at the Lubar School of Business is an innovative, STEM-designated program that combines technical, managerial, and business knowledge - providing students with a unique blend of skills to address IT challenges in today's dynamic business environment.

Through a combination of rigorous core courses and advanced elective courses, students acquire a diverse skill set in information technology management and develop specialized knowledge and expertise in areas such as enterprise resource planning, business analytics, and security and risk management.

The program is designed to serve both individuals pursuing a change in career, as well as IT professionals desiring greater in-depth knowledge to advance in their careers. In addition, it will prepare students who seek admission to a PhD program. The program can be completed within one to three years, depending upon part-time or full-time enrollment status.

The Graduate Concentration in AI and Data Analytics provides the knowledge needed by professionals working in corporate, non-profit, government, and institutions. The program provides students the ability to research complex topics and to present their conclusions. Courses focus on identifying issues and providing solutions.

Many students are already familiar with Geosciences through what is commonly called "earth science" in high school. Geosciences covers our Planet Earth - its soil, minerals, climate change, magnetic fields, earthquakes, water, plants, fossils, volcanoes and more.

The BA degree in Geosciences requires fewer math, physics, and chemistry prerequisites and upper-level courses than the BS degree. It is designed for students who expect to use the earth sciences in preparation for a career in law, business, government, primary or secondary schools, or natural resources, or for those who start the Geosciences program later in their college careers. The BA degree in Geosciences is more easily combined with complementary majors for students to pursue a double or a triple major.

Geosciences majors at UWM can organize their electives around a particular area of interest if they wish:

• Hard Rock - the study of structural geology, mineralogy, petrology, volcanology and tectonics
• Hydrogeology - the study of water resources
• Paleontology - the study of evolutionary patterns in history
• Sedimentary Geology - the study of rocks, fossils, and landforms in the context of the biological and chemical make-up

Geosciences touches on all aspects of the other natural sciences including chemistry, biology, mathematics and physics, so the ideal student for Geosciences loves all types of science and is curious about how they interrelate. Most Geosciences students also love the outdoors and traveling off of the beaten path.

The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Technology offers a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy that prepares students to become occupational therapists. During the program, students engage in graduate-level instruction embedded in the theory, research, and clinical underpinnings required to become evidence-based occupational therapy practitioners. Students may select a thesis option or project option in pursuing this degree. Students who are interested can choose to combine elective courses from the OT program with other courses on campus to receive the transcript-designated concentration in assistive technology and accessible design and/or ergonomics.

Ergonomics
This concentration provides the skills and experience needed to practice ergonomics in work environments. Students learn theoretical concepts of occupational biomechanics, physiology, psychophysics, and human factors as well as numerous job analysis techniques. Students are taught how to synthesize and apply these theories and tools to reduce injuries, improve productivity and increase quality of service/goods in industry. Emphasis is placed on practical applications and solutions.

The purpose of the MLIS program is to prepare librarians and information professionals who are able to manage change in an urbanized, technologically oriented, and knowledge-based society. The MLIS program provides a systematic course of study which enables individuals with a strong service orientation to apply principles of library and information science, use current methods and tools, and recognize the value of research.

Students may elect to specialize according to the type of library or information service which best meets their needs: i.e., school, public, academic, or special; or to follow a more generalized approach. Concentrations in archival studies, information organization, information technology, and public libraries are available.

Accounting is often described as the “language of business.” Numbers as language? Well, not exactly. Accountants definitely need to be numbers savvy, but what they really do is provide information. As an accountant, you’ll gather and organize financial information, analyze that information, assess performance and efficiency, and make suggestions for change or improvement.

The field of accounting is where you can see exponential growth. With advancements in technology, continuing changes related to accounting rules and regulations, and rapid globalization, there is no shortage of new opportunities and challenges for accountants. And because understanding of the accounting “language” is so fundamental to business, a degree in Accounting is a great launch pad for any business career.

The Committee Interdisciplinary Major with a focus in American Indian Studies provides students with a thorough understanding of the Native American tribal nations in North America and their influence and impact in today's culture and society.

Our program embraces everyone interested in understanding the treaties, history, cultures, and politics that shaped the formation of North America and continue to have relevance today. While UWM does attract a number of students with Native American ancestry to the program, our classes are full of people from all types of backgrounds. They all share a common interest in understanding the past in order to impact the present. The curriculum develops the depth of students’ experience with the methodologies and sources used in the field of American Indian Studies. Although interdisciplinary, American Indian Studies encompasses a distinct body of knowledge. Students majoring in American Indian Studies can select from a wide variety of courses organized under three areas:

• Culture and Creative Expression
• History, Law, and Government
• Education and Community Policy Studies

The Department of Teaching and Learning offers a graduate program of study in curriculum and instruction, including choices of concentration in three Focus Areas: Subject Area, Instructional Level Area and Cross-Curricular Area.

The Department also cooperates with the Department of Administrative Leadership in the Specialist Certificate Program with an emphasis in reading. Under the auspices of the PhD program in Urban Education, the Department offers doctoral specializations in Curriculum and Instruction and in Mathematics Education.

The College of Letters and Science and the Lubar School of Business offer and present jointly the Master of Public Administration (MPA).

The program is designed to provide theoretical and practical preparation for careers in public and non-profit administration with three areas of concentration: municipal management, general public administration, and non-profit management.

From the roads and bridges you use every day to the drinking water that comes out of your tap at home, civil engineers work to develop safe, efficient and sustainable ways to continually improve our infrastructure.

Structural Engineering
Structural Engineering uses the disciplines of structural analysis and mechanics to design structures, such as buildings, bridges, pipelines, industrial, tunnels, vehicles, ships, aircraft and spacecraft. Structural engineers need to understand the behavior of materials such as concrete, steel, wood, masonry, alloys and fiber reinforced composites.
