If you want to see the big picture and manage a diverse range of people and business areas, pursue a master’s degree in leadership development at Wright State. We will work with your schedule, as we are transitioning to 100 percent remote course delivery. You can take two courses per semester and finish your degree in five semesters. You take courses in a cohort model that includes program-related experiences that integrate theory and practice.  

Your coursework will address the principles of individual-based leader development, focusing on processes that build the capacities of groups in organizations. You will be capable of applying knowledge, critical analysis, improvement strategies and research to common challenges encountered in business, community, educational and non-profit organizations.

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology has a distinguished history for providing the best in graduate and medical education. Our faculty is engaged in cutting-edge research spanning many areas such as dermatology, metabolism, immunology, cell biology, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. Our curriculum is firmly rooted in the areas of leadership, research techniques, and translational medicine.

The Bachelor of Arts degree in music is designed for students who want to study music but do not necessarily plan a professional career in music. Students will get a much broader, more general education than students seeking a Bachelor of Music degree. Required courses are kept to a minimum. Consequently, students must work closely with an advisor in selecting course electives. For graduation, students must complete level III in the applied music concentration.

You can harness the power of music and its ability to express and communicate while studying music at Wright State. You will develop knowledge, technical skill, and the use of technology in our multifaceted curriculum. After graduation, pursue a career as a performer, composer, arranger, teacher, cultural administrator, or community leader. The program in motion pictures provides a study of film as a fine art. The curriculum offers two options: the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theatre with a concentration in motion pictures production and the Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre with a concentration in motion pictures history, theory, and criticism.

The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Motion Pictures is devoted exclusively to the training and education of undergraduate students in the areas of dance, motion pictures, and theatre. These programs lead to the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees.

The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Motion Pictures is empowered by the Ohio Revised Code to require particular preliminary training or talent for admission to specific programs, and each of the five B.F.A. degree programs has specific criteria for admission to each level of training. Students in all areas must earn a minimum GPA of 2.0 by the end of the freshman year to continue in a theatre arts major. Students who wish to be admitted as majors in acting, acting/musical theatre, or dance must successfully pass an audition or interview. Transfer students are admitted into B.F.A. programs on the basis of a successful audition, interview, or portfolio presentation. The department has an open admissions policy for students wishing to major in the B.A. programs in theatre studies and motion pictures history, theory, and criticism, and B.F.A. programs in design/technology and motion pictures production.

Crime and justice studies (CJS) is an interdisciplinary and incredibly varied field of study. Knowledge specific to the discipline relies upon research from fields as varied as sociology, law, history, psychology, and political science. It encompasses analysis of federal, state, and local entities that seek to understand, control, and deter crime. The principal agencies charged with these responsibilities are law enforcement, the judiciary, and corrections. More fundamentally, however, crime and justice studies examines questions of social justice—concerns related to equality, fairness, freedom, security, and social order. If you are interested in understanding the causes, responses, and consequences of crime for the individual as well as the larger society, consider this program.

Crime and justice studies is a liberal arts degree and therefore, our focus is on providing you with a well-rounded, critically engaged, and scientifically informed understanding of the field. While practical experience is a vital component of our curriculum, our larger mission is that, when you graduate, you will be an innovator and leader in your chosen occupations and will utilize scientific reasoning and sharply honed analytical skills on your path to success. You will be prepared for positions in a variety of occupations, including local and federal law enforcement, probation and parole, civil, criminal and juvenile courts, research, corrections, teaching, forensics, and a variety of other fields.

While crime and justice studies is an exciting and challenging major, it is not for everyone. Unfortunately, if you have a prior criminal record or a drug or alcohol dependency it will be difficult for you to obtain employment in the field once you graduate. Further, it is a field that generally requires not only keen analytic and technical skills but also the ability to empathize, establish strong interpersonal boundaries, and, most importantly, maintain fundamental respect for the rights and dignity of others.

The Master of Science in Mathematics degree program offers advanced mathematical training in the traditional areas of mathematics, yet is flexible enough to allow you to pursue interests in related areas of mathematics. You may select courses in algebra, analysis, combinatorics, and geometry, as well as differential equations, graph theory, numerical analysis, probability, and statistical theory. Individual interests and future goals determine the actual course of study, within the guidelines given below.

The M.S. in Mathematics degree requires 30 semester credits of coursework. These must include 16 credits of math classes numbered 7000 and above, including at least one two-course sequence. The remaining credits are taken from 6000 or 7000-level mathematics courses, as chosen in conjunction with an advisor. Graduates typically assume positions in teaching or business, or they may pursue further graduate training leading to the Ph.D. degree. The department makes provision for part-time degree candidates by offering all required courses in the late afternoon or evening.

Classics is the study of the cultures of ancient Greece and Rome. Both cultures have had a profound influence on life in the western world, especially in the areas of language and literature, art and architecture, politics and religion, science and philosophy. The Classics department at Wright State offers classes in most of these areas.

The Latin major allows students to focus primarily on the study of Latin language, literature, and culture. Students are required to take 7 semesters of Latin language. Additional electives cover courses in a diverse range of subjects relating to the study of the Classical world.

Students interested in teaching Latin major in Latin and enroll in the Latin Licensure program, which the Classics Department offers in conjunction with Wright State’s College of Education and Human Services.

Wright State’s Microbiology and Immunology program has established a tradition of producing graduates who excel as doctors, dentists, and veterinarians in Ohio, across the U.S., and in countries around the world.

You will join those whose postgraduate work at Wright State led them into a career field where the demand for qualified workers by corporations, government offices, higher education, and research is consistently high. If you love the Dayton area (and we are sure you will), there are many opportunities in area healthcare, research laboratories, tech and defense companies, and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Wright State’s excellent facilities include access to constant temperature rooms, coldrooms, darkrooms, animal care facilities, and cell and tissue culture facilities. The equipment includes the latest available technology in fluorescent microscopes, flow cytometry, and mass spectrometers.

You will learn about the human body and how it interfaces with its immune system to battle foreign organisms. Pursue a specialty in areas like immunology, virology, immunotoxicology, DNA and conventional vaccine development, and molecular genetics. Whatever specialty you choose, you can be confident your M.S. from Wright State will open the doors for incredible career opportunities across the globe.

An entrepreneurship degree will help you learn those skills and equip you with the experiences necessary to succeed in a business environment or start your own venture.

Program Outcomes
If you complete this program, you will graduate with a Bachelor in Business with a major in entrepreneurship. This multidisciplinary program’s courses focus on starting, financing, commercializing, and managing a new business. Students learn to evaluate and plan new business opportunities, research and write comprehensive business plans, and learn additional skills in market analysis, problem solving, return on investment principles, team building, and planning.

Businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies are increasingly relying on data to drive decision-making, increase productivity and profitability. Every action we take, from donating blood to buying groceries, is recorded and analyzed to better serve you. Graduates who can make sound decisions when choosing, implementing, and using these systems are in high demand locally, nationally, and globally.

Our program was the first business school program in Ohio accredited by the Computer Accreditation Commission of Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and one of the first twenty programs nationally to achieve this accreditation. Program Outcomes
In this program, you will get a broad education in core business skills such as accounting, finance, marketing, management, and operations management along with emphasizing business and organizational studies and information systems technology. You will study business systems analysis, business system design, and computer programming. You will also focus on developing, implementing, and maintaining information systems in a variety of organizational environments. Coursework includes information system design, development methodologies, database management systems, electronic business, and data communications.
