If you want to see the big picture and manage a diverse range of people and business areas, pursue a master’s degree in leadership development at Wright State. We will work with your schedule, as we are transitioning to 100 percent remote course delivery. You can take two courses per semester and finish your degree in five semesters. You take courses in a cohort model that includes program-related experiences that integrate theory and practice.  

Your coursework will address the principles of individual-based leader development, focusing on processes that build the capacities of groups in organizations. You will be capable of applying knowledge, critical analysis, improvement strategies and research to common challenges encountered in business, community, educational and non-profit organizations.

Wright State University offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Dance that prepares students to become versatile professional dancers, choreographers, and teachers – by integrating rigorous training and performance experience in ballet, jazz, and modern dance, with acting and musical theatre studies. Our faculty and guest artists represent all facets of professional dance and do all they can to help students prepare for success.

Dance majors hone their technical abilities and creativity through daily ballet classes and specialized training in modern and jazz/theatre dance, perform in dance concerts and musical theatre productions, and create and produce their own choreography.

Our most exceptional students experience the life of a professional dancer from the start when selected for scholarships that provide performance opportunities with our partner companies Dayton Ballet and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.

The Master of Science degree program in applied mathematics gives you a thorough introduction to application-oriented mathematics. The objectives of the program are:

• Develop your ability to analyze and solve a variety of real-world problems
• Increase your understanding of specific problems encountered in other fields

You may tailor your program to emphasize discrete or continuous mathematics, or probability and statistics. Coursework in an area of application, such as computer science, engineering, or physics is also encouraged. You may choose to complete a modeling project as part of your program.

The applied mathematics degree requires 30 semester credits of course work. The program is designed primarily to prepare you for a career in business, industry, or government, but can be tailored to provide a solid foundation for doctoral studies in mathematics. The department makes provision for part-time degree candidates by offering all required courses in the late afternoon or evening.

The Bachelor of Arts in physics degree is designed for students who wish to couple a solid foundation in physics to a non-technical and creative arts field, such as writing, philosophy, political science, or other College of Liberal Arts majors. Likewise, students can obtain technical background in physics along with obtaining a background in business for those interested in business development opportunities.

The Department of Physics offers programs leading either to a Bachelor of Science degree or a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics. Students in secondary education may earn the Bachelor of Arts degree in physics and enter the Professional Year Experience program of the College of Education and Human Services for licensure in physics.

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology has a distinguished history for providing the best in graduate and medical education. Our faculty is engaged in cutting-edge research spanning many areas such as dermatology, metabolism, immunology, cell biology, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. Our curriculum is firmly rooted in the areas of leadership, research techniques, and translational medicine.

The MS in Marketing Analytics and Insights (MS MAI) program is designed to provide graduate students with a strong base in marketing strategy, consumer behavior, and especially marketing analysis and insights. The program will provide students with the fundamental skills and tools to extract and analyze marketing data, and the opportunity to generate real-world interpretation, insights, and recommendations.

Program Outcomes

• Knowledge of the strategic role of marketing in organizations, including the key role of a marketing plan;
• Understanding of influences on consumer attitudes, beliefs, and, most importantly, their actions and decision processes;
• Ability to analyze marketing and financial data, formulate strategies and implement decisions;
• Ability to design a research study, collect data, and analyze data by using focus groups, primary data, secondary data and web data;
• Awareness of online marketing methods and how to use hands-on tools to increase meaningful web traffic;
• Hands-on, computer-based experience with marketing analytical tools to generate insights and marketing decisions that create value and build competitive advantage;
• Ability to apply “big data” analytic methodologies such as predictive analytics, data mining, text and other big data related technologies;
• Experience working with a real dataset to conduct a thorough data analysis, yielding insightful interpretations and proposed recommendations suitable for a business.

Studying one of the modern languages at Wright State will help you improve your ability to read, write, and speak in another language, study how that language is used in a social context, and become a more enlightened citizen. Industrial and Human Factors Engineering (IHE), a highly customizable degree in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, prepares working professionals towards effective design and operation of a variety of systems in healthcare, manufacturing, aerospace, distribution, retail, and many others. While industrial engineers utilize the tools of simulation, optimization, computing, and statistics to design and improve modern technology-laden systems, human factors engineers design systems that effectively integrate human abilities/limitations and machines/tools.

You will study feminist activism and theory related to women and other marginalized groups within a multicultural and global context, including experience and identity related to gender and sexuality. You will gain excellent written and oral communication skills, research skills, and strong critical thinking skills. You can go on to work in a variety of fields including psychology, health, education, nonprofits, and other organizations and businesses.

The urban affairs major is right for you if you want to make communities better places to live, if you want to fix problems such as vacant housing, decaying infrastructure, access to healthy food, ensuring safe neighborhoods, reducing homelessness, city planning, economic development, and equal education and job opportunities for future generations.

The Urban Affairs program provides students with an appreciation of the urban environment as a complex system and teaches them to approach urban processes from multiple perspectives. The Bachelor of Arts degree places emphasis on the qualitative aspects of public service management. In contrast, the Bachelor of Science degree emphasizes quantitative data analysis.
