Program Outcomes
If you complete this program, you will graduate with a Bachelor in Business with a major in entrepreneurship. This multidisciplinary program’s courses focus on starting, financing, commercializing, and managing a new business. Students learn to evaluate and plan new business opportunities, research and write comprehensive business plans, and learn additional skills in market analysis, problem solving, return on investment principles, team building, and planning.

Whether you want to work in government, hospitals, entertainment, nonprofits, sports, or other industries, the general business program will set you apart from the other graduates in your career field. In this program, you will learn the basics of accounting, economics, marketing, financial management, and management and organizational behavior. The management and financial knowledge you gain will expand your job opportunities or help you get promoted sooner. You will apply the theories learned in the classroom to workplace challenges, learn to collaborate and work effectively in teams across and within functional areas, enhance your communication skills, sharpen critical and analytical thinking, deepen your ethical decision-making in business contexts, and proactively anticipate rapidly changing business challenges in a global economy.

This program gives you a broad base to move easily into the workplace in a variety of industries, as well as give you a broad foundation of valuable business skills for continuing your education in graduate studies.

If you want to see the big picture and manage a diverse range of people and business areas, pursue a master’s degree in leadership development at Wright State. We will work with your schedule, as we are transitioning to 100 percent remote course delivery. You can take two courses per semester and finish your degree in five semesters. You take courses in a cohort model that includes program-related experiences that integrate theory and practice.  

Your coursework will address the principles of individual-based leader development, focusing on processes that build the capacities of groups in organizations. You will be capable of applying knowledge, critical analysis, improvement strategies and research to common challenges encountered in business, community, educational and non-profit organizations.

Help design your own degree program—one broad in scope, narrow in concentration, and flexible enough to draw courses from all of the departments and programs in the College of Liberal Arts. The liberal studies degree is ideal if your interests encompass more than one liberal arts field and you desire greater flexibility in your program. If you want to change your major but still graduate in a timely manner, or if you are a transfer student who might benefit from an interdisciplinary curriculum, consider liberal studies.

The program’s strengths include a unique blend of faculty expertise, well-equipped computer science and engineering laboratory facilities, and a balance of theory, practice, hardware, and software. The M.S. degree in Cyber Security, and its NSA/DHS certified CyberDefense Concentration, are designed for individuals who want to develop skills to identify and resolve cybersecurity threats.  The degree is focused on developing knowledge and skill applicable to protecting computer systems and computer networks. Students with backgrounds in computer science, computer engineering, information systems or electrical engineering may apply to the program. Professionals working in the industry who have a strong technical background and related work experience are also encouraged to apply.

Study from a social scientific perspective how humans create, transmit, receive, and respond to messages. The communication studies program will help you better understand intrapersonal and interpersonal communication. The mass communication program shapens your skills in mediated processes and effects, social media, digital media, and other multimedia processes. Your intellectual, organizational, and social abilities will increase through our new curriculum. These abilities can be applied to a variety of contexts, including interpersonal, organizational, and mediated settings. Your courses will underscore real-world experiences with theoretical frameworks. Your ability to critically think about the world around you cannot be overemphasized. We strive to help you participate in a democratic society as an informed and civically engaged citizen and demonstrate global and multicultural competence.

The Master of Science degree program in applied mathematics gives you a thorough introduction to application-oriented mathematics. The objectives of the program are:

• Develop your ability to analyze and solve a variety of real-world problems
• Increase your understanding of specific problems encountered in other fields

You may tailor your program to emphasize discrete or continuous mathematics, or probability and statistics. Coursework in an area of application, such as computer science, engineering, or physics is also encouraged. You may choose to complete a modeling project as part of your program.

The applied mathematics degree requires 30 semester credits of course work. The program is designed primarily to prepare you for a career in business, industry, or government, but can be tailored to provide a solid foundation for doctoral studies in mathematics. The department makes provision for part-time degree candidates by offering all required courses in the late afternoon or evening.

We explore how religion unifies and divides human communities; shapes political views and gender roles; produces great intellectual achievements and horrific acts of violence. Advanced Studies is a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree program that is available for currently licensed teachers who want in-depth study in a particular area of interest. This program offers a flexible option for highly motivated individuals who are seeking advanced study with specific professional objectives, such as expanding knowledge or skills in a specified area, and/or who are seeking to earn an endorsement, along with the Master’s degree.

Program Outcomes

Students completing the program will be able to:

• Communicate a sophisticated knowledge of history and disseminate it to the general public through completion of thesis projects, Public History capstone projects, Public History conferences, and other presentations and exhibits.
• Encourage others to explore and understand the historical context of their lives through public contact in societies, historical organizations, community and social groups, local and regional schools, History Day, and in museums and archives.
• Develop their own appreciation and knowledge of history through contact and networking with other historians (through the department, alumni, and professional organizations), and through a continued quest for knowledge by readings and primary research. 
• Be prepared to matriculate into Ph.D. programs or to advance their careers in secondary education. Graduates in the Public History plan will be qualified to obtain employment in historical organizations, corporations, government, non-profits, archives, libraries, or museums.

Classics is the foundation of Western Civilization, from Bronze Age Greece to the Fall of Rome. It encompasses a wide variety of subjects, including language, literature, history, history and philosophy of science, political science, philosophy, art history, archeology, and mythology.

Studying classics will teach you to think holistically about societies in the past. At the same time, you can see parallels in modern society. Our Founding Fathers looked to the civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome to draft the documents by which we Americans live. Ninety percent of English words over two syllables come from Latin. The majority of medical and scientific terms are based on Greek and Latin. Classics can help you discover and rediscover new things in every aspect of your life.
