A degree in economics provides you with a solid foundation for a career in business, government, or nonprofit sector. Economists are vital in helping predict and study responses to changes in policy and the market and our program boasts a placement rate or nearly 100 percent in occupations requiring a master’s degree. You will study research methods and how social factors influence and shape our economy and apply those analytical skills to working in business, government, and nonprofit sectors.

This program develops professional economists who can solve contemporary problems with a unique skill set created by a curriculum that bridges the gap between research and the application of research. Our curriculum stresses applied research using traditional and nontraditional methods and takes advantage of our faculty’s diverse teaching and research activities. You are encouraged to develop and evaluate new approaches to economic problem solving while building the skills to work in business, government, and nonprofit sectors or continue your education.

Program Outcomes
If you complete this program, you will graduate with a Master of Science in Social and Applied Economics. This graduate program equips you to solve contemporary economic problems with a unique set of skills created by a curriculum that combines applied economics with social economics. This program bridges the gap between research and the application of research in business, government, and nonprofit sectors. In this program, you will be encouraged to develop and evaluate new approaches to economic problem solving.

The thesis option is for students who need or desire the full range of professional experience, including intensive research and writing. This option assures training in research techniques and in the preparation of scholarly papers. It culminates in the preparation and defense of a thesis based on original research. The student's program of study is an initiation into methods of focused study and research in a selected area of physiology or neuroscience.

The course option allows the student to plan a program of study that, along with the degree requirements, satisfies his or her educational needs and career objectives. This might be to extend knowledge for a current position, or as preparation for one of many health professions. The student's program of study typically culminates with two scientific writing courses broadly in the areas of Physiology and/or Neuroscience.

The Bachelor of Science curriculum in Chemistry approaches students' educational endeavors with a broad, integrated, and in-depth view. Departmental requirements, combined with university core requirements and electives, offer a balanced course load for students. This provides undergraduates with the opportunity to explore where their interests in the science field will lead them. This option combines all the required courses for admission to a professional school, which includes two years of chemistry, one year of physics, one year of mathematics, while utilizing recommended courses as science electives to fulfill the bachelor's requirements. This option allows students the freedom to explore their interests in many of the careers listed

The School of Music offers majors in the following areas of performance: bassoon, clarinet, classical guitar, euphonium or baritone horn, flute, horn, jazz guitar, oboe, organ, percussion, piano, saxophone, string bass, trombone, trumpet, tuba, viola, violin, violoncello, and voice. With departmental permission, students may major in fields other than those listed. Students must study continuously in their chosen disciplines until they meet all graduation requirements, including satisfactory public performance of specified recitals during the junior and senior years.

Each music performance major is required to participate in at least one university ensemble related to the student’s applied music concentration during each semester in which the student is enrolled full time. Assignment to an ensemble is made by the director of bands, director of choral studies, or director of orchestral studies; the appropriate ensemble director; and the student’s full-time applied instructor. When the student’s applied instructor is not a full-time faculty member, approval must be given by the chair of the student’s applied board. To be eligible for the Bachelor of Music degree, the performance major must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in the major performing medium and a 2.0 in all other required music courses.

How about developing an alternative-energy system to give a rural homestead power and wireless access, or designing the next generation of autonomous vehicles that conserve energy, plan routes and eliminate collisions? Closer to home, you can imagine a system that monitors your grandmother’s health, automatically administers her medication, and communicates remotely with care providers to allow her to live safely and with confidence in her own home.

Biomedical engineering (BME) is a dynamic field and combines traditional engineering approaches with other crucial sciences to advance technology and improve quality of life—you could be working to solve problems in biology, chemistry, or medicine. Specialized areas of BME include bioinstrumentation, biomaterials, biomechanics, medical imaging, orthopedic engineering, and systems physiology.

For students interested in a career in medicine or other post-baccalaureate health professions, biomedical engineering can prepare students with related technical skills and practical applications necessary for success.

Program Outcomes
The following student outcomes of the biomedical engineering program will prepare graduates to attain the program educational objectives:

• An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors

• An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which most consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts

• An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgement to draw conclusions

The B.S. in physics degree is designed for students who wish to gain a strong foundation in experimental and theoretical physics along with a solid background in mathematics that wish to pursue graduate school in physics or a related field, such as engineering, or directly enter the workforce and a career in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related field.

The B.S. Degree Program in Earth and Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences Concentration is designed to provide the knowledge, skills, and experience required for graduate study and to prepare students for professional careers in a variety of fields including energy resources, water resources, environmental protection, and environmental site investigation and remediation.

Wright State University offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Dance that prepares students to become versatile professional dancers, choreographers, and teachers – by integrating rigorous training and performance experience in ballet, jazz, and modern dance, with acting and musical theatre studies. Our faculty and guest artists represent all facets of professional dance and do all they can to help students prepare for success.

Dance majors hone their technical abilities and creativity through daily ballet classes and specialized training in modern and jazz/theatre dance, perform in dance concerts and musical theatre productions, and create and produce their own choreography.

Our most exceptional students experience the life of a professional dancer from the start when selected for scholarships that provide performance opportunities with our partner companies Dayton Ballet and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.

The program in selected studies allows students to pursue a self-designed course of study. It is intended for students with a definite educational objective that is not met by the majors presently offered by the College of Liberal Arts. While the program is free from several traditional requirements, students must meet other requirements and procedures to obtain the degree.

Students are eligible for the program after they complete 33 credit hours. With the help of program sponsors, students formulate a contract outlining their study goals and reserving at least 32 credit hours for courses that help accomplish those goals. The contract is evaluated and approved by the program committee.
