Wright State has partnered with Miami University to bring our students the Greater Miami Valley Joint MASW program since 2012. Due to the success of this joint program, which is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), both schools are forming their own, independent MASW programs. We expect both independent programs to be accredited by CSWE and fully operational when the joint program ends in May 2021. At that time, Wright State students who were admitted and are enrolled in good standing in the joint program will automatically be admitted and transitioned to the independent Wright State MASW program. Beginning in the 2020 Summer Semester, all MASW classes for Wright State students will be held on the Dayton campus.

The M.A.S.W. program at Wright State University prepares students to be advanced generalist competent and ethical social workers to engage and intervene with diverse populations. Full-time (2 years), part-time (3-4 years), or advanced standing (3 semesters) programs are offered to admitted graduate students.

Athletic Trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Students who want to become certified athletic trainers must earn a degree from an accredited athletic training curriculum. Accredited programs include formal instruction in areas such as injury/illness prevention, first-aid, and emergency care, assessment of injury/illness, human anatomy and physiology, therapeutic modalities, and nutrition. Classroom learning is enhanced through clinical education experiences." — NATA web site, 2015

The athletic training program prepares you to sit for the national Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer examination which meets the certification in Ohio as regulated by the Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Board.  Licensure and certification requirements vary from state to state, and we have not determined if this program meets educational requirements outside of Ohio.  If you are planning to pursue professional licensure or certification in a state other than Ohio, please contact the appropriate licensing entity in that state to seek information and guidance regarding that state’s licensure or certification requirements.

Studying one of the modern languages at Wright State will help you improve your ability to read, write, and speak in another language, study how that language is used in a social context, and become a more enlightened citizen. You will also learn about the history, politics, culture, media, and literature of your chosen country and study their economic and educational systems.

You will grasp basic principles of the structure, design, and language of music in its historical and cultural contexts while studying music history and literature at Wright State. You can better understand the music you hear, perform, and create. This major is not a terminal degree, and you should expect to continue at the graduate level. The Organizational Leadership major and minor are multidisciplinary, focused on the people side of organizations and managing others. An education in organizational leadership can provide you with a broad perspective to prepare for complex social, cultural, and professional issues that are sure to be encountered.

The objectives of the Public Health degree center around programmatic learning goals and core skills that not only provide an in-depth science education but aid students in developing skills necessary for future careers. These include:

You will study feminist activism and theory related to women and other marginalized groups within a multicultural and global context, including experience and identity related to gender and sexuality. You will gain excellent written and oral communication skills, research skills, and strong critical thinking skills. You can go on to work in a variety of fields including psychology, health, education, nonprofits, and other organizations and businesses.

Electrical engineers make big dreams into reality—in the areas of alternative energy, wireless communications, electronic surveillance, computing technology, and semiconductor devices. Electrical engineers are at the forefront of technological advances. Imagine being part of a team that uses a CCD array to create an artificial retina, or a non-tethered pacemaker the size of a vitamin pill. How about developing an alternative-energy system to give a rural homestead power and wireless access, or designing the next generation of autonomous vehicles that conserve energy, plan routes and eliminate collisions? Closer to home, you can imagine a system that monitors your grandmother’s health, automatically administers her medication, and communicates remotely with care providers to allow her to live safely and with confidence in her own home.
