At the Master of Arts level, we provide students with broad and intensive training in their fields of study. The MA program appeals to individuals in all walks of life who strive to enhance their Jewish learning through a rigorous and stimulating program.

Whether you want to continue professionally in fields such as law or business, enter into more traditional areas like Jewish education or Jewish communal service, or pursue the degree out of intellectual curiosity and personal interest, the program is for those who want to be challenged and inspired.

Welcome to the Department of Sociology at Yeshiva College. The Sociology Department at Yeshiva College offers both a major and a minor in sociology, as well as minors in public health and criminology. A sociology degree is excellent preparation for graduate study or a career in law, criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, research, public administration, business, medicine, counseling, health care management or other service professions.

The mission of the Sociology program is to prepare students for employment and/or to pursue advanced studies in various fields ranging from journalism, political analysis, market research, law, medicine, psychology, sociology or social work to just name a few. Students will be prepared for these careers by studying social causes and consequences of human behavior. Sociology majors will learn to investigate the structure of groups, organizations, and societies, and how these structures constrain peoples’ lives in different ways. Our program will teach students to analyze a wide range of social institutions like law, family, medicine, education, mass media and religion. Sociology majors will learn to analyze social institutions by focusing on structures like race, gender and class. Familiarizing students with social theories will help students understand how these structures stratify societies. Despite all this diversity in our field, the discipline of sociology has a powerful coherence that comes from a collective dedication to developing theoretical principles about social life and testing them with empirical evidence.

Data analytics professionals shape organizational strategies and impact the bottom line by transforming quantitative data into qualitative insights. They also contribute to the greater social good, using data to address pressing challenges in healthcare, housing, poverty, education and transportation. In the Katz School's M.S. in Data Analytics and Visualization, you’ll learn to transform raw data into insightful output and master the underlying science of predictive and exploratory analyses, as well as techniques for creating visualizations and data narratives.

Yeshiva University’s M.S. in quantitative economics (MQE), based in New York City, blends macroeconomics and microeconomics, econometrics, probability/statistics, computation, behavioral economics and data science to inform monetary and fiscal policy, labor markets, public finance, market design, and more. The program provides a broader scope than most master’s degrees in applied economics and offers a unique quantitative focus, which gives you an edge when applying for jobs in finance and investment, commercial banks, accounting, consulting, think tanks, insurance, healthcare, government and NGOs.

In the Katz School's interdisciplinary M.S. in Biotechnology Management and Entrepreneurship, you’ll master the mission-critical scientific, technical and business knowledge needed to launch, manage, scale and commercialize biotechnology innovations and delivery systems. You’ll learn what it takes to shepherd a great idea through regulations, clinical trials, compliance and patents. And you'll merge science and technology knowledge with business skills, such as marketing, customer development, analytics and new business development to effectively bring pharma and biotech products to market. No other discipline in the humanities and the social sciences covers so wide a range of topics as history. Instead of studying just one or another segment of human activity - e.g. politics, economics, literature, art, philosophy, etc. - history integrates all of them. Located at the intersection of multiple disciplines, it is of crucial importance to all students of the humanities and the social sciences.

Mathematicians are trained to analyze data and apply mathematical and statistical techniques to solve real-world problems in business, engineering, healthcare, or other fields. They typically work in teams with other professionals to develop models, interpret data, make projections, solve optimization problems. Interdisciplinary skills, such as in physics, economics, computer science, or biology, can be helpful in applying mathematics to other fields.
