Physics explores the natural world and applies the findings to improve human life. Advances in physics lead to new technologies. Students in physics at Yeshiva College acquire mathematical skills and ways of thinking that support success in many careers. Many of our physics graduates have gone on to earn graduate degrees in physics and engineering. Many others have succeeded in jobs such as law, medicine, engineering, business and finance. The Department of Physics has state-of-the-art laboratory equipment for introductory and advanced experiments in mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, lasers, electronics, quantum and nuclear physics. A weekly colloquium brings physicists from all over the world to present and discuss their research.

Data analytics professionals shape organizational strategies and impact the bottom line by transforming quantitative data into qualitative insights. In the Katz School's M.S. in Data Analytics and Visualization, you’ll learn to transform raw data into insightful output and master the underlying science of predictive and exploratory analyses, as well as techniques for creating visualizations and data narratives.

Like travelers in foreign lands, students of history come face to face with the diversity of the human condition. They undergo the unsettling - but salutary - experience of nonrecognition, and so arrive at an understanding that peoples in the past were other, that “then” was different from “now,” “there” different from “here.”

Enriched by that understanding, they are able to view their own time and place in a new light, as the outcome of local and contingent circumstances rather than as the inevitable product of human nature.

Instead of studying just one or another segment of human activity - e.g. politics, economics, literature, art, philosophy, etc. - history integrates all of them. YU’s M.A. in Physics program, based in New York City, specializes in solving problems in quantum information, mechanical and electronic materials behavior, propagation of waves, biological matter, dynamics, and hardware and software development. These activities are of intrinsic interest from a fundamental point of view and they are also geared toward engineering applications.
