In the Katz School's interdisciplinary M.S. in Biotechnology Management and Entrepreneurship, you’ll master the mission-critical scientific, technical and business knowledge needed to launch, manage, scale and commercialize biotechnology innovations and delivery systems. Students who study in the Yeshiva College English Department gain direct, intimate access to other cultures and time periods, through encounters with works from classical Greece, medieval Europe, and Victorian Britain to U.S. and world literature of the present. At the same time, students develop both analytically and creatively as writers and thinkers, learning to express themselves with clarity and power. In engaging us with a range of forms — poetry, fiction, nonfiction, drama, film, as well as the genres of the Internet age — English courses enlarge our vision of the complexity and richness of human achievements and how we might contribute to them ourselves.

The computer science program at Yeshiva College provides students with the theoretical foundations and practical skills required for long term success in industry and in graduate school.

Yeshiva University’s M.S. in quantitative economics (MQE), based in New York City, blends macroeconomics and microeconomics, econometrics, probability/statistics, computation, behavioral economics and data science to inform monetary and fiscal policy, labor markets, public finance, market design, and more. The program provides a broader scope than most master’s degrees in applied economics and offers a unique quantitative focus, which gives you an edge when applying for jobs in finance and investment, commercial banks, accounting, consulting, think tanks, insurance, healthcare, government and NGOs.

The Music Department offers course work and performing opportunities in Western classical music and jazz at the undergraduate level.

A fundamental guideline for all students pursuing the major and minor in music is that they should have a healthy balance between academic courses (history, theory, style analysis) and performance courses (chamber ensembles, jazz ensemble, applied music lessons). The study of music and the experience of music should reinforce each other. In this same light, music theory courses (harmony) place an emphasis on writing music.

The Music Department strongly encourages its majors to extend and refine their performance abilities during their student years by enrolling in at least one performance-oriented course each term that they are students. This means that many music majors (and minors, too) frequently take more courses in music performance ensembles and lessons than they are allowed to apply toward their major.

Political science involves the systematic study of the public affairs or politics of the state. The word politics derives from the ancient Greek polis or city-state and signifies the manner in which the inhabitants of the (city-) state are governed. Political scientists study all factors instrumental or influential in the acquisition and exercise of power for the purposes of public control or governance -- political leaders, governmental institutions, legal systems, public policy, political parties, public interest groups, political ideologies, social movements, media, economic systems, religion and its social institutions, culture, race, ethnicity, gender, demographics and social trends, scientific advances -- on a local, national and international level. They concern themselves with the dynamics of political stability as well as that of political change whether through the ballot box or via revolution in the street. Politics invariably involves competitive power struggles for the right, de jure or de facto, of control over others. The study of politics invariably focuses, therefore, upon conflict, whether that of competitive electoral politics or inter-state rivalry or warfare. Political science research may be descriptive, often using empirical methods (qualitative or quantitative) as well as prescriptive, recommending solutions to prevailing political problems.

YU’s M.A. in Physics program, based in New York City, specializes in solving problems in quantum information, mechanical and electronic materials behavior, propagation of waves, biological matter, dynamics, and hardware and software development. These activities are of intrinsic interest from a fundamental point of view and they are also geared toward engineering applications.

Our master's in physics program explores exciting fields like quantum information and materials behavior. It prepares students for impactful careers in academia, industry, teaching and entrepreneurship while also developing their artistic appreciation for observing nature through the physicist’s lens. With robust knowledge of computer software and hardware development, our graduates gain access to rewarding jobs in the high-technology field, including developing their own high-tech startups. They also continue on to Ph.D. programs and apply their knowledge in a range of industries, such as engineering, business, finance and medicine.

The Chemistry Department at Yeshiva College offers a rigorous program of study and encourages undergraduate students to engage in research during the academic year and summer to work one-on-one with our faculty members.

Chemistry is vital for students interested in medical and health-related careers, which are based on knowledge of the chemical sciences. It is also ideal for students interested in a broad, liberal arts education, with an emphasis on understanding the nature and interactions of the chemicals that make up the world.

The field of chemistry can lead to careers in research and teaching, medicine and health sciences, and industry and private service. The chemical and pharmaceutical industries provide opportunities for applied chemical research. Medicine and health-science fields emphasize the biologic aspects of advances in chemistry.
