The Bachelor of Science Advanced (Honours) caters for students who have demonstrated outstanding potential in the field of science. This degree follows the Bachelor of Science degree, giving you the opportunity to engage in research early by taking one Advanced Studies course each trimester.

You'll undertake a major research project and be individually guided and mentored by one or more of our outstanding scientific researchers. In your final year, you'll complete an honours project in your chosen specialisation. This double degree provides you with the opportunity to deepen and refine your knowledge to be able to critically analyse and make strategic decisions within a dynamic global business environment. Within the Master of Human Resource Management and Employment Relations component, you will study core areas of human resource management including strategy, international and comparative human resource management, recruitment and selection, and performance and reward management. This degree provides an alternative route for entry into a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) if you do not meet the entry requirements for direct admission.

When you complete this degree, you will be granted admission to an MPhil or PhD, providing you have fulfilled the entry requirements detailed in the Higher Degree Research policy and have completed the confirmation procedure. Your final grade will determine whether you are eligible for the PhD or MPhil.

You will undertake advanced study and supervised research work in the health discipline, defined by your undergraduate degree. In the coursework component, you will critically evaluate research and develop your knowledge and understanding of statistical analysis techniques as applied to health research. You will also develop an awareness of research proposal design and background. The Master of Urban and Environmental Planning is Australia's only postgraduate program that equips you with the qualifications to work as a traditional town planner as well as an environmental professional.

Taught by leading Australian and international academics in urban and regional planning, environmental planning, transport planning, social and cultural planning, and tourism planning, the programs cover the theoretical knowledge and practical skills planners need to deal effectively with contemporary planning and development challenges.

Forensic investigators are skilled, dedicated professionals with the ability to keep an open mind and concentrate on hard evidence. In this degree, you will explore science in real life and receive training in handling criminal casework in forensic biology and forensic chemistry.

You will develop in-depth knowledge of new forensic analysis methods and innovations, and gain valuable experience from real casework. You will practise presenting expert evidence in moot courts. You will learn from academic staff who have been called to work on projects such as the forensic identification of victims of the Asian tsunami and the Bali bombings, and who provide expert evidence in Australian courts.

In your first year, you will take core courses in biology, chemistry, molecular genetics and forensic investigation. In your second and third years, you will focus on your chosen major and continue to develop your skills in core areas.
