This degree provides an alternative route for entry into a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) if you do not meet the entry requirements for direct admission.

When you complete this degree, you will be granted admission to an MPhil or PhD, providing you have fulfilled the entry requirements detailed in the Higher Degree Research policy and have completed the confirmation procedure. Your final grade will determine whether you are eligible for the PhD or MPhil.

You will undertake advanced study and supervised research work in the health discipline, defined by your undergraduate degree. In the coursework component, you will critically evaluate research and develop your knowledge and understanding of statistical analysis techniques as applied to health research. You will also develop an awareness of research proposal design and background. The multidisciplinary context of this degree will be invaluable to you if you are seeking to understand complex problems in health.

This degree will provide you with a deep understanding of policy, politics and power in the domestic and international spheres. You'll learn about political movements and institutions, processes of law making, diplomacy and global politics. You'll explore how democracy thrives or struggles to survive, and the strategies authoritarian leaders increasingly use to maintain their grip on power, among a range of other exciting topics in Political Science and International Relations.

Environmental engineering is your pathway to protecting the natural environment and its resources by ensuring that we minimise the adverse effect we may have on it. In this program you will develop an understanding of complex environmental problems and issues, and of the challenges facing environmental sustainability. You will learn to design creative engineering solutions and manage key projects associated with environmental protection in the area of solid and hazardous waste management, air quality monitoring and control, water and wastewater treatment, and renewable energy. The Bachelor of Communication and Journalism/Bachelor of Science will combine the specialised disciplines of biological, clinical, chemical, physical and mathematical sciences with the skills and capacity to communicate these within various professions, and to the broader public. Alongside scientific expertise, graduates will emerge with a suite of communication, writing and media production skills that will add a critical dimension to their employability. Graduates of this double degree will better navigate the contemporary context for science where global communication and media are pervasive and increasingly a concern for emergent and existing science professionals. Graduates employed in diverse sectors alongside those choosing to pursue specialised science communication careers (including science journalism) will be accommodated by this degree combination.

This degree provides students with a comprehensive grounding in legal practice and legal skills with a focus on the interaction and impact of human societies on the environment.

Students will develop an understanding of environmental economics, environmental ethics, environmental law and governance and the national and international policy context, as they pertain to environmental management.

Law component
Griffith Law School offers a professional legal curriculum that focuses on core areas of legal practice and the legal skills that lawyers must have. You will have the opportunity to choose law electives based on your interests, including high-level research and clinical courses that emphasise practical legal skills, insights and experience.

You will make connections between law and ethics, legal theory, Indigenous issues, and internationalisation. You will also develop interdisciplinary understandings of law and legal work.

You will take courses that cover areas such as crime, contracts, property, corporate law, torts and theories of law.

If you complete the five Canadian Law courses, you will be eligible for entry into the legal profession in Canada's common law provinces, when accompanied by a Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.

Environmental Science component
