This Australian Physiotherapy Association accredited master’s degree is for qualified Physiotherapists who want to gain advanced clinical skills and knowledge in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. This is a critical specialisation within physiotherapy, as the skeleton provides a framework for the muscles and other soft tissues. Together, they support the body’s weight, maintain posture, and help a person to move freely.

What you'll learn

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists assess and manage a wide range of patient problems within a biopsychosocial framework. With your master’s degree, you'll gain advanced biomedical and psychosocial knowledge, advanced physical and psychosocial examination skills, and advanced clinical reasoning.

You'll learn to communicate effectively with clients, community and industry partners to provide advanced physiotherapy management. This incorporates an appreciation of cultural diversity in promoting health and well-being in diverse clinical environments and among diverse populations – across both patients and peers.

Healthy feet are an important part of the body’s holistic health, and many of us at some point in our lives will experience foot problems. In the Bachelor of Podiatry, there’s a major focus on practical skills for keeping feet healthy every day, as well the ability to diagnose and manage illness and disability. You’ll get the opportunity to practice these skills within a vast range of industry organisations.

What you'll learn

You’ll gain an advanced understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of podiatry, as well as the physical, biological, and social sciences relevant to working in healthcare. The curriculum covers the scope of a podiatrist’s practice, including paediatrics, diabetes, sports injuries, musculoskeletal problems, treatment of the elderly, and general foot care.

During the first year, you’ll cover topics to give you an introduction to health sciences including:

• human anatomy
• human physiology
• biomechanics
• disease groups and conditions

You’ll develop advanced communication skills and explore the assessment and treatment of common problems. The second year will expand your knowledge in clinical sciences, including skills to enable comprehensive and holistic assessment and management of patient conditions. During your third and fourth years, you’ll work on your clinical practice skills, including surgery (and other orthopaedic management), paediatrics, wound management, high-risk foot management, chronic pain and sporting injuries.

Practical learning is a major focus, so your training will take place in our on-campus podiatry clinics, as well as during external placements in metropolitan and rural South Australia. You’ll also get the opportunity to fine-tune your podiatry skills with 3D printed feet, created as part of a world-first podiatry training initiative.

In this degree, you will get a grounding in key business disciplines through industry and business-focused courses. Your management specialisation will give you the knowledge and skills to manage resources and projects in a global business environment. You will learn to address emerging issues, and to recognise the need for innovation as you progress in your career. You will also have the valuable opportunity to embed an internship, mentoring or work integrated learning into your degree.

What you'll learn

The degree starts with core courses in business theory. These will give you a solid grasp of business fundamentals such as international business, economics, and business intelligence. You can gain valuable insight and career skills while you study with advanced career-focused electives and internships in the industry.

In your management specialization, you'll study areas such as international management ethics and values; organizational leadership, and behavior.

What you'll learn

The Bachelor of Human Movement offers an exciting combination of theoretical, conceptual and hands on learning. From your first year, you can select from primary streams in either Exercise and Sport Science or Health and Physical Education. If you choose to study the Exercise and Sport Science stream, you can also study a secondary stream in Advanced Exercise and Sport Science, Rehabilitation Sciences, Sports Coaching, Health Promotion or Nutrition. If you pursue the Health and Physical Education Stream, you can study a second learning area chosen from a wide range of options including Outdoor Education, Mathematics, Science, English and Nutrition. This degree teaches you practical skills and effective communication techniques to interact confidently with clients and peers, complete client screenings, conduct laboratory and field testing, interpret scientific research, and design and implement exercise and training programs.

Modern construction is a complex, innovative and highly organised commercial industry dealing with large capital investments and increasingly influenced by technology and environmental considerations – including green and smart building practices.

Heavily reliant on sophisticated construction techniques, highly skilled labour and real-time information systems, the industry needs experienced, adaptable leaders, particularly for large-scale projects..

What you'll learn

You will study core areas of construction including law, management, communication, materials and business, and use digital tools for data driven decision making and productivity. These will give you an excellent understanding of the role of a construction professional.

You’ll also study more complex fields such as quantity surveying, building surveying, contract administration, development regulation, development economics and fire engineering.

In your honours year, you will choose two out of the following three specialisations, which will lead to recognition by different accrediting bodies:

This degree uses A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK® Guide) as a learning framework. It is the international standard practice and approach to project management that can be applied across different industries, businesses and government institutions.

What you'll learn
The program will deliver industry relevant material created through consultation with practitioners and industry governing bodies like the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM).

Over the course you will:

• Establish a project and prepare project plans to meet objectives and requirements,
• Lead projects from inception to commissioning,
• Learn how to use appropriate management tools for project monitoring and analysis,
• Gain knowledge in effective project management tools and techniques, current trends and contemporary knowledge such as sustainability, agile and tailoring based approaches to solve complex project problems creatively

What you'll learn

Nuclear medicine technologists need to know how to confidently prepare and administer radioactive substances (radiopharmaceuticals), to evaluate the function of an organ or body system and diagnose and/or treat diseases. Throughout your degree, you’ll learn how to work with radioactive substances, and complement your clinical skills with valuable interpersonal skills such as communication and collaboration.

During your first year, you’ll focus on basic sciences at the core of the study and practice of medical radiation science. You’ll cover a range of topics, including anatomy, physiology, pathology and radiation physics. These core subjects introduce you to the scientific principles surrounding medical radiation.

Designed for students who have already completed a bachelor’s degree and meet entry requirements, this intensive master’s degree will qualify you to practise as a registered occupational therapist with two extra years of study.

What you'll learn

The Master of Physiotherapy (Graduate Entry) will teach you to assess, treat and prevent human movement disorders across various areas of practice, including sport, musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, and neurological conditions in people of all ages.

The beginning of the degree will cover topics in evidence-based practice, clinical reasoning skills, professional practice skills, the mechanisms and management of pain; and the theory, assessment, and management for cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, and neurological conditions. A central component of this master’s degree in clinical placements, which commence in the second half of your first year of study, in the area of acute care.

What you'll learn

The first year will focus on core health subjects including anatomy, physiology, and an introduction to occupational therapy practice and evidence.

From second and third year, you‘ll focus on the application of your skills in mental health, occupation rehabilitation, chronic conditions, community focus, primary health care and participatory community practice.

In addition to field placements, you‘ll attend workshops in a range of industry settings. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit regional settings in your third year, on the annual Country Road Trip.
