Construction and Drafting Technician Diploma teaches the students in 2D, and 3D AutoCAD drawing and management tools that are usually used in Engineering Drafting and Designing and emphasizes on the drawing skills for public works and civil engineering industries. During the course, the students learn about local building code,   project estimating, civil infrastructure construction methodologies,  local construction industry standard practices, surveying, design/drafting and Construction Inspection and Management.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program, the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

• Use AutoCAD effectively to create working drawings
• Use AutoCAD as a tool to work on architectural and structural drawings
• Apply local building code standards to architectural and interior design drawings
• Apply city bylaws for site and building design
• Understand local building inspection techniques under Canadian Association Home property Inspector
• Understand civil infrastructure road pavement design and construction standards
• Understand civil roadworks inspection techniques
• Understand engineering and architectural design drawings and perform quantity estimating
• Use Revit to create 3-dimensiional building models with rendering effects
• Use Civil 3D to create land development subdivision and infrastructure drawings
• Use Sketchup to create 3-dimensional model and sheet layout
• Create a working drawing portfolio for presentation during interviews
• Apply the knowledge and skills to the practicum placement to gain practical employment experience.

The Green Building and Sustainable Design Diploma program equips students with essential skills for pursuing a career in the fields of green building design, planning, construction and maintenance. Program curriculum will cover a contemporary range of building design strategies and technologies, with an emphasis on those that reduce environmental impacts and make local buildings healthier and more livable. Major topics include architectural design strategies, high level computer-aided drafting techniques, building information modeling (BIM), energy modeling, and core sustainable building concepts such as effective building envelope design, the assessment of energy efficiency, LEED®? project management and documentation strategies, and the application of modern and upcoming green building standards (e.g. Passive Housing).

Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to challenge the Natural Resource Canada (NRCan) Foundation Level Exam and EnerGuide Rating System v.15 Energy Advisor Exam. These exams are administered through external agencies and are not required for program graduation. However, students interested in pursuing the exams will receive a voucher. Successful exam-takers have the opportunity to become NRCan-recognized Energy Advisors upon becoming affiliated with a service organization, where they can become certified to assess energy performance and potential energy savings for homes during the design, construction, and renovation stages.

The Construction Operations and Supervision Diploma program offers the students the skills and the knowledge to work in the construction industry and advance their careers as estimators, site coordinators and supervisors.  The major topics in the course include the construction drawing methods, construction estimating, design concepts of buildings, construction theories, building code and standards, health and safety regulations, basic project management skills, surveying, practical construction knowledge, scheduling techniques and construction estimating. 

On the completion of the course, the students can seek employment in engineering firms, with sub-contractors, governmental agencies and local construction firms or pursue their further studies in building science, engineering, computer-aided design and architecture.

The Advance Business Management Diploma in Accounting offers the students comprehensive knowledge and the skills required to work in the diverse field of accounting and finance in today’s dynamic global environment.

The Hospitality Operations Certificate program equips students with the skills necessary to work in the hospitality industry. Participants will gain valuable knowledge that reflects the most current practices and trends in today's hospitality industry.
Brighton College has partnered with the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) to deliver a well-rounded curriculum that focuses on hospitality operations. The certificate program is composed of Business Communications, Job Search as well as Hospitality elective courses that enable students to choose the right courses for their desired occupation within the hospitality field.

This certificate program is instructor-led, allowing students to navigate quickly through the material. The curriculum includes experiential lectures and workshops facilitated by the experienced instructors. Food Safe and Serving It Right are also required for both practicum placement and graduation. Students earn certificates in each of the AHLA courses successfully completed as well as a certificate in Hospitality Operations from Brighton College, once all program requirements are met.

AutoCAD Drafting and Design Specialist trains the students in 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawing and management tools that are usually used in Engineering Drafting and Designing and emphasizes on the drawing skills for the construction and engineering industries. During the course, the students gain a solid foundation of AutoDesk CIVIL 3D and AutoDesk Inventor used in public works and civil engineering, computer graphics, web design and desktop publishing. 

The civil infrastructure design technology program emphasizes practical hands-on infrastructure practices in design civil engineering. All aspects of design, drafting and construction methods are taught in lecture format augmented by on-site field visits. Instruction in the current building construction practices, civil infrastructure construction standards and current computer drafting technologies ensure students will have the knowledge, skills and competency to enter this labor force immediately upon graduation.

This diploma program is nationally accredited by the Technology Accreditation Canada (TAC). Graduates from this diploma program will be eligible for recognition by the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) as a Certified Technician (CTech) and other provinces, as well as international certifying bodies.

This program is fully instructor-led, allowing students to gain knowledge quickly through architectural design concepts to building construction. The curriculum includes lectures facilitated by specialized industry experts. The program also includes work experience (practicum) at a various architecture, interior design or engineering firms. Brighton Civil Infrastructure Design diploma will be granted upon successfully completion of all courses.

The Computerized Accounting and Office program provides students with basic accounting and computerized accounting skills in all phases of the accounting cycle. With these skills, students will be qualified for junior positions in most organizations. Brighton College has partnered with the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA), to deliver the Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification (PCP) certification courses.

Brighton College has partnered with The Canadian Payroll Association (CPA), to deliver the Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification (PCP) certification courses. The process consists of three courses from the Association and Introduction to Accounting from the college. Once the student passes the three CPA exams and pays the transfer fee for the Introduction to Accounting mark, they will be considered a PCP Candidate. Effective January 1, 2015, individuals who wish to obtain the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification must have at least one year of weighted payroll experience obtained within five years prior or five years after the start of the Payroll Compliance Legislation course. Students who do not wish to obtain the Payroll Compliance Certification may enroll in the Brighton College payroll courses. Students will be evaluated with Brighton College payroll assignments and exam.
