Camosun offers academic psychology and applied psychology in the form of introductory interpersonal relations and counselling courses. We're focused on teaching and helping you gain the knowledge and skills that will make it possible for you to continue with university studies or with a career.

What you'll learn
Camosun College offers an Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology; during the two-year, 20-course program you'll study psychology, English, and a variety of arts courses.

As an associate degree student, you will have access to excellent academic advice; you'll have a definite learning path, but with room to explore along the way. You'll be well-prepared for success if you choose to continue with further post-secondary studies.

You may also choose to take psychology courses as electives to satisfy university transfer requirements for many other Camosun programs.

Camosun College has an Associate of Science Degree program in General Science that is offered by the School of Arts & Science. It is a 20 course program that helps a student gain a wholesome education in the field of General Science. Once students graduate from the AD program they can choose to continue their education by pursuing a bachelor’s degree and furthering their education. This program prepares students by providing them salubrious education in the field of science and providing them with the best kind of academic counseling.

The AD program also offers students a choice of choosing between a co-operative education program and an internship. Bothe of these programs help students gain professional experience and hence prepare them for the future. Students can seek transfer to a better educational institution across British Columbia such as a university. The Royal Roads University offers such courses in the School of Environmental Sustainability.

Once a student has completed at least 8 courses, he/she is eligible to take up co-op education or an internship. They can choose between a four month long internship and a two term course of Co-operative program.

Build Your Skills
If you’re artistically and technologically minded, the Interactive Media Developer (IMD) program will nurture your programming skills and artistic vision to take on creative and technical challenges.

You'll learn the skills you need to take an idea or a problem and develop it from concept to production. You’ll get the opportunity to write professional documentation, design and implement stories or games, and apply your knowledge to create you own interactive experiences. Optional work terms will complement your coursework with added hands-on experience.

A double-credentialed program
The one-year Interactive Media Developer Technician certificate program prepares you to work locally in the exciting world of software development. Possible careers include junior application or web developer, and junior graphic designer.

Continue your studies for another year, and you receive the Interactive Media Developer Technologist diploma. Graduates work as web, software, game or mobile app developers, and are prepared for work in quality assurance, visual effects, product management or product design/user experience.

What to expect
This technical, rigorous program is composed of a one-year full-time certificate and a subsequent one-year diploma. Both credentials can be completed with an internship designation.

As a full-time student in the Interactive Media Developer program, you will spend 25-30 hours in class each week with approximately five hours of homework every day, including weekends. Before you begin this program you should be comfortable with basic computing skills, word processing, and file management.

Year 1
In your first year, you'll develop strong foundational skills and knowledge in programming and application development, computer logic and algorithms, 3D modelling and animation, and project management.

Year 2
As you continue your studies toward the Diploma in Interactive Media Developer, you’ll develop skills in artificial intelligence, design visualization, augmented reality, human-computer interaction, and project management.

Optional Co-op/Internship Designation
As an Interactive Media Developer student, you have the option to supplement your classroom learning with the completion of one or two paid work terms. After successful completion of these optional work experiences, you'll qualify either either the Co-op or Internship designation when you graduate.

Camosun College offers a two year Associate of Science degree in Psychology that has a total of 20 course program where a student studies multiple subjects such as English, Sociology, Psychology and a multiple other subjects pertaining to general knowledge and education. The aforementioned course offers training in the field of academic and applied psychology as well as a number of other counseling courses. 

The Associate of Science in Psychology also gives the student an opportunity to take psychology courses as elective subjects which helps them go to universities by means of transfer programs. The faculty at Camosun is focused on teaching the students the practical skills and knowledge required in the field of psychology and also helps them to be successful while taking up a post-secondary education. 

During the Associate Degree students have the option of gaining practical experience and therefore are well prepared for the working environment. The students can choose between a co-operative education program for over two terms and an internship for over four months.

In the Digital Communication program you'll study how digital communication impacts society. You'll explore the ways communication influences and reflects society and culture, and the role that digital technology has in the communication process.

What you'll learn

• In this 10-course (two-semester) program, six core courses provide a broad base of applied theoretical knowledge to get you started in communications.
• You'll also take a production course to get some hands-on experience, and use the four electives to customize your credential according to your interests.

Work experience option

• As a certificate student, you have the option of extending your program with a three-month internship. Your work term will give you hands-on experience and connections that will help you start your career in communications. After your work term, you will graduate with a Certificate in Digital Communication - Internship Designation.

Camosun College offers students a very different yet interesting course in the field of Comics and Graphic Novel writing. This very unusual yet upmarket course provides students an opportunity to pursue their talent and passion. Students are equipped with a series of skill set and provided insight about creating comic books, graphic novels, web comics and comic strips. This 12 month program leads to a certificate for the students and hence gives them opportunity to work in the said field professionally.

The course has a total of two academic terms and hence in that duration they are taught every knick and knock about comic books and graphic novel writing.  The various courses offered in this certificate include creative writing, character design, structural drawing, perspective drawing and more. Students also display their works at the comic arts festivals and other exhibitions.

In the certificate course students are made familiar with a number of skills such as visual storytelling skills, including scripting, storytelling layout and pencil sketching, inking, lettering, and coloring techniques. Students are also educated about publishing and the tips & tricks of career as a graphic novelist and a comic book writer.

Develop critical skills in public administration and governance including building relationships with diverse stakeholders and community groups. Through applied learning, you will experience different perspectives and objectives to consider issues in new and creative ways.

As a graduate, you are prepared to be employed in a variety of public administration settings. You can also choose to continue your education at Camosun with the Diploma in Public Administration or enrol in one of the School of Business diplomas or Bachelor of Business Administration programs.

You will learn to apply economic theories to analyze market changes, consumer choices, competition, business cycles, and the effects of trade. You will gain exposure to banking and financial markets, managerial economics, and quantitative methods. The analytical skills you develop in this program are useful in a career in economics or business, and in your personal decision-making.

This two-year, 20-course program will give you a head start in economics, statistics, science and English, as well as your choice of electives to round out your education. As a graduate, you can choose to continue your studies, or you could find employment in academia, in a bank, within government, business, international development or research organizations.

The Post Degree Diploma in Applied Tourism and Hospitality Management is a 16 month postgraduate certificate course that deals with hotel operations, restaurant management, integrated event management and practical business skills. Students are provided with practical skills development, knowledge of hospitality and tourism sector, entrepreneurial skills and so on. The major themes underlying the diploma are sustainability, service management, entrepreneurship and cross cultural diversity including an Indigenous world-view.

The diploma helps students gain practical skills and helps them get a view of the professional world they will be stepping into. This course prepares the students gain success in tourism and hospitality sectors. Along with the industry specific work experience gained by the students they are also imparted academic knowledge and class counseling. At the end of the course, students also have the opportunity to gain a four month work experience placement. This placement gives students insight into the field of their choice and the circumstances they will be facing.

Get the technical skills to be an elite performer
The Music Performance diploma program is offered through a partnership between the Victoria Conservatory of Music and Camosun College. This program is designed to meet a heightened requirement for versatility in performance style. Increasing demand on artists to participate in creation, along with the quick implementation of music technologies to create, capture, and transfer music, indicates the need for non-traditional training.

This is a first-of-its-kind credential–one that deliberately blends practitioners of all styles in a common first year, proceeds with a highly specialized second year, and steeps the whole in a performance orientation.

The Music Performance diploma is offered over four 14-week semesters, running from September to early April over two years; select courses may be offered during spring/summer terms. You may elect to study full-time or part-time; however, you should be prepared to dedicate both daytime and evening hours to scheduled courses, and if you select a part-time option you should be aware that alternate-year delivery schedule of some courses may add significantly to the length of the full program. Courses are taught on the Victoria Conservatory of Music campus at 900 Johnson Street in downtown Victoria, or by distance learning.

Upon successful completion of the diploma, you will have deep, practical training in music, instilling the skills vital for success in the 21st-century music workplace.

The Diploma in Music Performance will increase your personal strengths in music making through a balance of performance and hands-on application of practical skills. Intensive one-on-one studio instruction, group performance, music theory and contexts, music technologies, and career skills will give you the foundations for success in the 21st-century music profession.

Year 1
A common first year for musicians of all genres will lay the ground work for future specialized study. Performance, music theory and contexts, aural skills, and music technologies are taught.

Year 2
In the second year, you will choose areas of musical specialization. Areas of performance, contexts and creativity, composition, improvisation, performance practice, and stagecraft are emphasized.
