The hospitality industry is the fastest growing and one of the most successful industries in the world. Camosun College has successfully produced hospitality management graduates who have built a future in hospitality. Students have gained jobs in the top hotels and restaurants in the world while many of them went forward with multiple entrepreneurial ventures of their own. It is a 2 year long diploma program which also gives the students the opportunity of doing an internship.

Camosun College has a highly reputable Department of Hospitality Management which is hugely accredited to their practical hands on learning experience. Students are provided the required academic experience as well as the required practical experience. The hospitality Diploma includes two years of education about all the important skills and knowledge required in the field. During the first year, students study courses such as business communications, hotel operations, introduction to management and Canadian tourism. In the second year, the diploma becomes a little more specific and students increase their foundation knowledge, develop their leadership skills, learn about hospitality law and complete a second work term.

Camosun College offers a two year Associate of Science degree in Psychology that has a total of 20 course program where a student studies multiple subjects such as English, Sociology, Psychology and a multiple other subjects pertaining to general knowledge and education. The aforementioned course offers training in the field of academic and applied psychology as well as a number of other counseling courses. 

The Associate of Science in Psychology also gives the student an opportunity to take psychology courses as elective subjects which helps them go to universities by means of transfer programs. The faculty at Camosun is focused on teaching the students the practical skills and knowledge required in the field of psychology and also helps them to be successful while taking up a post-secondary education.

In the Digital Production, Writing and Design program you'll be using digital media tools to create products to be used in a variety of ways, such as advertising and marketing materials and to tell stories using media tools. You'll explore digital video and audio production, web design, digital photography and writing for journalism and the web. Work experience option
You have the option of extending your program with an internship to gain real-world experience and connections that will help you start your career in communications. Normally the work term will be scheduled for the summer, following the second academic term.

Camosun offers courses in basic English language skills to get you started. More advanced courses prepare you for further studies at college or university, career programs and professional communication in the Canadian workplace. You can progress rapidly by taking ELD-Level 2 courses at the same time as other college courses. Graduates credit their studies at Camosun for academic success in later college and university programs.

Level 1: ELD level 1 courses are for beginning and pre-intermediate students who have a fundamental and developing knowledge of English.  Emphasis is on development of speaking and listening skills with an introduction to reading comprehension and written composition.
Level 2: ELD level 2 courses focus on the development of advanced academic English language skills needed to gain entry into college-level programs or technical and professional English language skills needed in the Canadian workplace.

In the Digital Communication program you'll study how digital communication impacts society. You'll explore the ways communication influences and reflects society and culture, and the role that digital technology has in the communication process.

What you'll learn

  • In this 10-course (two-semester) program, six core courses provide a broad base of applied theoretical knowledge to get you started in communications.
  • You'll also take a production course to get some hands-on experience, and use the four electives to customize your credential according to your interests.

Work experience option

  • As a certificate student, you have the option of extending your program with a three-month internship. Your work term will give you hands-on experience and connections that will help you start your career in communications. After your work term, you will graduate with a Certificate in Digital Communication - Internship Designation.

Camosun College has an Associate of Science Degree program in General Science that is offered by the School of Arts & Science. It is a 20 course program that helps a student gain a wholesome education in the field of General Science. Once students graduate from the AD program they can choose to continue their education by pursuing a bachelor’s degree and furthering their education. This program prepares students by providing them salubrious education in the field of science and providing them with the best kind of academic counseling.

The AD program also offers students a choice of choosing between a co-operative education program and an internship. Bothe of these programs help students gain professional experience and hence prepare them for the future. Students can seek transfer to a better educational institution across British Columbia such as a university. The Royal Roads University offers such courses in the School of Environmental Sustainability.

Once a student has completed at least 8 courses, he/she is eligible to take up co-op education or an internship. They can choose between a four month long internship and a two term course of Co-operative program.
