This program develops the skills and knowledge you need to effectively manage the health information required for patient care, administration, research, and education. The program trains you in the specialized techniques required in health information management. It offers a unique combination of medical, computer, and business courses.

Emphasis during the program will be on the following:

• Anatomy and physiology
• Medical coding
• Computerization
• Statistical analysis

As a graduate you will be eligible to write the national certification exam administered by the Canadian Health Information Management Association. Successful certification allows you to seek employment across Canada.

The Automotive Technology program gives you the necessary skills required to diagnose and repair today’s automobile. Training alternates between in class, live shop and work experience. Classroom instruction will broaden your knowledge in automotive electronics as well as strategies required for diagnosis of engine management systems, fuel injection and abs brakes.

• Main subject areas include electrical diagnosis, electronics, ignition systems, engines, drive-lines, steering and suspension, brakes and fuel system.
• Second-year students will have the opportunity to be involved in chassis and engine dynamometer projects in areas of emissions analysis, cold weather testing of hybrid and electrical vehicles and engine performance.
• Upon graduation, students will receive a level two apprenticeship accreditation

This program provides you with the skills necessary to produce computer-aided mechanical drawings of components and assemblies of industrial machines, machinery parts, and other mechanical equipment.

You will hone your problem-solving abilities and drafting skills through practical assignments, where you must think through the process of drawing development. You will spend a significant portion of the program learning about and producing drawings using computer-aided drafting (CAD). You will receive training on a wide variety of software programs such as recent releases of AutoCAD, Solid Edge, and Inventor, to give you the experience required to develop technical drawings.

As the year progresses, you will be asked to demonstrate planning, research, and analytical abilities as you undertake project design work.

As a graduate, you will possess skills in the following areas:

Prior to starting the program, you will be invited to attend a program overview information session. You will also be invited to participate in a math and reading skills diagnostic testing session that will advise you of your program readiness.

In this program, you will develop the knowledge, skills, and values required to support and enhance the development of persons with disabilities. The program focuses on 'community', and students will provide support to persons with disabilities in schools, homes, employment, and leisure settings. The program is offered as a workplace model which means that courses are offered in a block format and practica is integrated throughout the term. It also means that regular applicants will learn alongside individuals who are currently working in the field. 

As a student, you will learn how to assist persons with disabilities to plan and achieve their personal goals and maintain their health and well-being. You will understand how to promote the development of inclusive communities and display competent, responsible, and professional behaviour and attitudes. You will also have an opportunity to experience a variety of community settings through your fieldwork, or practicum, which makes up about one quarter of the program.

Prior to starting the program, you will be invited to attend a program information session. Although optional, it is highly recommended you attend. You may also be asked to participate in an individual interview.

• Develop the necessary skills for an entry-level administration position in a legal setting.
• You will learn how to prepare legal documentation for real estate, civil litigation, wills and estates, domestic and family law, business, and appeals. You will also gain hands-on experience through the program’s practicum component.
• This may be an ideal program for those re-entering the workforce or developing a new career path in the legal profession. 

This program provides the skills you need to gain employment in the production of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and food products. This program provides specialized training in the pharmaceutical and food industry through hands-on learning in our pilot scale production facilities. These facilities include Solid Dosage Manufacturing, Applied Biopharmaceutical Production, and Food Processing.

You will acquire the skills used to produce pharmaceutical products such as over-the-counter and prescription drugs, vaccines, analgesics, and antibiotics. Additionally, the program will provide hands-on training and skill development in food processing and manufacturing.

The Applied Accounting program is designed to provide you with the necessary skills to provide entry level accounting support. In addition to developing basic accounting and computer skills, the program includes courses in general business practices.  

While the program highlights accounting topics, emphasis will also be placed on:

• Mathematics
• Business management
• Communication
• Records management
• Business software

Prepare for a career as a Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machinist or general machinist.  Learn to set up and operate CNC and manual metal cutting machines, interpret engineering drawings, apply geometric dimensioning and use CAD software.

Graduates will be competent in the following:

• Applying safe and correct practices when handling tools and equipment
• Setting up and safely operating manual milling machines, lathes, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining and turning centers
• Interpreting engineering drawings
• Applying geometric dimensioning to verify component parts
• Using basic Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
• Studies consist of theory and practical training.

Graduates of the program may find career opportunities as CNC operators or machinist apprentices in a wide variety of industries including:

This program gives you an understanding of the basic purpose, construction, operation, and service of component parts and assemblies of an automobile.
You will develop the knowledge and skills required to disassemble, inspect, machine, calibrate and reassemble motor vehicle units and components. You will study internal combustion engines, automatic and standard transmissions, brakes, steering, electrical circuits, wiring, and fuel systems.
Most training will take place at RRC’s auto mechanics workshop, an environment that will give you the practical experience required for industry employment. You will also acquire industry work experience as part of this program.

This program develops the skills you require to assist dentists using four-handed dentistry techniques.
As a dental assisting student, you will learn about dental procedures, including the instruments, materials, and equipment used for each.  You will also learn how to prevent the transmission of disease/infection through infection control techniques, e.g. sterilization.  You will also learn basic laboratory skills, e.g. pouring models.  The program will also prepare you to work as an intra-oral assistant by developing skills to perform the following procedures:

• Polishing of teeth
• Application of fluoride
• Exposing radiographs
• Placement and removal of dental dam
• Placement of sealants
• Taking impressions
• Placement of matrices and wedges
• Application of liners, bases, topical anesthetic, and desensitizing agents
• Removal of sutures
• Fabrication and delivery of whitening trays and mouth guards

To broaden your skills and knowledge of business related procedures, you will study basic accounting, records maintenance, business correspondence, billings, and appointment control.
During the practicum, you will have the opportunity to work with dental students at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Dentistry and in a private general dental office, performing the skills you learned in the classroom, lab, and clinic.
