The Exercise Science and Nutrition major is supported by the AUT Human Potential Centre, a research centre for physical activity and nutrition based at AUT Millennium.There are great postgraduate and research opportunities after completing this major.

AUT's coaching degree prepares you for a coaching career in sport, recreation, health and physical education, and the growing area of coach development.
Coaching is an exciting and rewarding area of sport in New Zealand. Coaches work with athletes of all skill levels, from beginners to high-performance athletes, and there’s a large number of coaching positions available in the areas of performance analysis and performance sports.
Develop the skills to become a top coach. You gain a sound understanding of the coaching process, and work with athletes of different skill levels through your workplace experience. There’s strong input from our industry partners, including Aktive Auckland Sport and Recreation, national and regional sport organisations and clubs; primary, intermediate and secondary schools, and regional sports trusts.

Bachelor of Health Science in Counselling
If you become a counsellor you help people deal with their feelings, better understand themselves, make decisions and create change in their lives. The Counselling major prepares you to work with a diverse client base as a counsellor.
You become familiar with the history and theory of counselling, and the relational counselling model. AUT's counselling degree includes 200 hours of counselling practice, bicultural learning, marae visits and knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi issues. This degree is suitable for adult students and those with appropriate life experience.
AUT counselling graduates are eligible to apply for provisional membership of New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) to begin practising as a counsellor.

You learn from staff who are intensive care paramedics, emergency nurses, defence force medics, midwives, medical specialists and emergency management specialists.
