The Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (GradDip IT) is designed to provide you with advanced IT skills ready for immediate application in industry.

You will gain the necessary technical skills and insight so you can adapt to technological changes and meet the challenging demands of the IT world. Your new skill set will enhance your existing qualification and put you in good stead within your current or future workplace.

The GradDip IT will enable you to develop a range of professional skills, including the ability to advise and implement innovations leading to a more efficient use of resources. You will also gain an understanding of the regulatory and ethical frameworks of the IT sector.

This program is suitable for graduates who have not previously studied IT at tertiary level.

What will you learn :

The GradDipIT program has been designed to enable graduates to pursue a career in the computing industry. In particular, the program is designed to provide students with:

• A sound knowledge of current IT technologies and the effective management of IT systems.
• The ability to analyse organisations and make recommendations for IT services and systems.
• The ability to relate to and communicate effectively with personnel and clients who have diverse backgrounds.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science offers two pathways, one for nurses and one for health scientists. The Diploma offers a selection of online and blended courses designed to meet the needs of health practitioners, health sector managers and other professionals whose practice has a focus on health. The Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science may be completed with or without a specialty option.

Nursing specialty endorsement options available are:

• Advanced Nursing Practice
• Registered Nurse Prescribing (approved by the Nursing Council of New Zealand)

As a graduate of the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science you will have developed your knowledge and skills of critical analysis, constructive synthesis and their application to high quality approaches to health care delivery.

The Master of Wine Business and Innovation (MWBI) is a Level 9 program of 240 credits, completed by coursework, industry integrated project, or applied research.

The philosophy underpinning the Wine Business and Innovation suite of programs is to provide a breadth of knowledge and a business focus to those wanting to develop their skills and progress within the wine industry. The programs can serve as rigorous professional development for those already within the wine industry, and as an advanced level pathway into the industry for those in other areas.

This qualification is designed for creatives with broad knowledge and skills in art, design, music, fashion and screen production who wish to specialize in their selected area.

The creative industries and cultural sector in Aotearoa New Zealand will benefit from graduates who can critically analyze research findings, critically evaluate work, and present resolved work in a real-world context.

As a graduate you will be able to independently select and apply a range of processes in a specialized area of art, design, music, fashion and screen production.

This qualification is designed for learners who wish to further develop their practical and conceptual skills and knowledge in arts, crafts and/or design.

The creative industries and cultural sector in Aotearoa New Zealand will benefit from graduates who can use research to inform, critique and present resolved work in simulated contexts.

As a graduate you will be able to independently select and apply a range of processes in arts, craft and/or design contexts.

As a graduate of this qualification you will be able to:

• Produce practice-based creative works from a critically engaged personal standpoint informed by contemporary and historic contexts.
• Apply broad knowledge and practical and conceptual skills in the production of arts, craft and/or design work.
• Use investigative tools with creative processes, methods and technologies to develop responses to a brief and solve problems.
• Use research to support the development of ideas and to inform own work within conventions and contexts in arts, craft and/or design.
• Critique own work and the work of others, communicate in a range of situations and present own resolved work in simulated contexts.
• Apply professional practices to manage projects/briefs within defined guidelines and select potential education and employment pathways in arts, crafts and/or design.

The Bachelor of Computing Systems (BCS) will equip you with foundation knowledge of computer hardware, networking communications and security, data and databases, information systems and IT management, systems analysis, design, and development, and internet and mobile technologies.

Depending on the stream of courses you select, you will develop the ability to design and implement high quality IT solutions within your specialisation, and apply the professional processes necessary to achieve successful outcomes for organisations.

What you will learn :

The BCS program equips graduates with the skills and practices to achieve entry-level IT positions to pursue a professional career in the industry. In particular, the program is designed to:

• prepare graduates to be effective in a variety of professional roles, applying the technical expertise required by their endorsed discipline;
• provide a well-defined and relevant curriculum, whilst incorporating flexibility to enable rapid adoption of new technologies;
• promote professionalism and independence in learning;
• provide flexible study modes and the capacity to develop individual study initiatives and directions;
• provide components which incorporate problem solving, analysis and research.

The PGDipIT is a one year Level 8 full-time programme with a minimum of 120 credits. It enables those who have completed a computing degree to achieve a postgraduate level qualification in information technology.

Those who wish to progress from the PGDipIT to the MIT will need to complete eight courses (120 credits) at Level 8.

The programme can be completed in one year full-time or up to four years part-time, depending on your previous study and experience and specific course preferences. It can act as an entry point into the masters degree if you do not initially meet the entry requirement and need to demonstrate your ability to study at a postgraduate level. Alternatively, if you initially enrolled in the masters degree and are not in a position to complete it, you can transfer any applicable courses to the postgraduate diploma for the purposes of qualification completion.

The NZ Diploma in Architectural Technology offers you the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to become a productive member of an architectural design team. You will gain the practical knowledge to undertake the whole process of producing architectural drawings, from establishing a client’s requirements right through to submission of the final designs.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

• Apply comprehensive industry knowledge to evaluate design principles for small, medium and large building projects in a design, building or construction related environment.
• Carry out feasibility studies for small, medium and large buildings.
• Establish the clients’ requirements, develop and communicate a concept and building design, and prepare approval documentation for a building project in accordance with a clients’ brief.
• Evaluate the performance of and select materials and finishes to be used in the building process.
• Prepare, organise and present architectural working drawings for small and medium buildings using manual and digital technologies in accordance with the statutory and regulatory environment.
• Understand the roles, documentation and administrative requirements of the construction industry, apply this knowledge and assist senior personnel through the tender process.

Accounting Major
Graduating with an accounting major will enable you to undertake accountancy related work in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. With appropriate course selections you will be able to meet the provisional admission requirements Chartered Accountant (CA) with either Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) or CPA Australia. The Program Coordinator can advise you on appropriate course selections.

Management Major
Typical opportunities after graduation include the areas of: human resources; operations management; or developing your own business.You will work initially in roles such as Team Leader, Functional Manager or Management Trainee, progressing to more senior positions with experience.

Marketing Major
Typical opportunities after graduation include work as a Marketing Manager, Sales Manager, Account Manager or Product Manager and progressing to more senior positions with experience.
