The Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science) will see you become involved in Massey’s aims to develop a sustainable path for the future. We are looking to solve real-world issues such as managing natural resources and environmental impacts.

The qualification involves lab work and field trips to water treatment plants and a range of managed and mismanaged environments across the North Island. You’ll explore processes and investigate interactions between pollutants, soils, water quality and more. From there, you can help to address issues in the food sector, by combining environmental science with a major in agriculture, horticulture, geography or soil science.

In the Bachelor of Arts (Geography) you’ll study how we interact with our cultural, social and physical environments. Geography is a diverse and dynamic subject. It covers issues such as

• Sustainability
• Urban development
• Globalisation
• People’s lived experiences of their environments.

Geographers like to get out into the field to study the world as it really is. They use a variety of tools, including geospatial mapping technologies.

Stage one of the BA Geography includes both human and physical geography.

• Human geography looks at how social processes affect space, place and landscape.
•  Physical geography looks at how natural landscapes take shape and change.

You will gain a solid foundation for understanding our world as the product of a combination of social and natural processes. More advanced courses expand on the themes established at stage one. You can specialise in human geography, or include more advanced geospatial and physical geography courses as well.

The Bachelor of Information Sciences (Software Engineering) is a joint major which means that you will study aspects of both computer science and information technology.

History is a topic as large as our recorded past. Our cultural heritages, literature, arts, religions, politics, economics, social behaviours, buildings and landscapes all derive from past influences. Massey offers a range of topics so you can explore your own particular interests. Topics you could study include:

• The history of New Zealand and the Pacific
• Focus on the history of Britain/Europe
• Study pre-industrial society or colonisation
• Social and political history, or
• Contemporary history.

Take your study of sociology to the next level. With Massey’s Master of Arts (Sociology) you can build on your undergraduate study and complete advanced research of an aspect of sociology that interests you.

Sociology is about understanding and describing our local society and its global setting. Sociologists are interested in almost all aspects of the social world and in your MA (Sociology) you’ll consider questions such as:

Specialise in Veterinary Public Health for your Master of Veterinary Studies at Massey
You may be in a government position and needing to know more about disease surveillance and/or food safety. Or, you may come from a veterinary background and be interested in learning more about animal health and the transmission of pathogens to humans (zoonosis).

In the Master of Veterinary Studies (Veterinary Public Health) you’ll learn from our world-leading experts how to help create solutions to reduce the impact of animal pathogens on human health. This includes the prevention and control of food and water-borne pathogens.
The Master of Veterinary Studies (Veterinary Public Health) is a research-focused qualification. It has a focus on issues around food safety, water quality and zoonotic diseases. These are issues that have a crossover between animal and human health.

Massey’s Master of Finance combines the study of advanced finance theory with the choice of completing the qualification either by undertaking a Research option or a Professional option.

Your study will focus on finance, but help you put this specialty into the context of other business disciplines.
