The Graduate Diploma in Information Sciences (GradDipInfSc) is intended mainly for graduates in an unrelated area who are seeking to retrain or upskill in the information sciences.  Many of the students are studying via distance (online study) because they are working full time.

Massey is one of the few universities in New Zealand where your information sciences qualification covers all five disciplines of computer science, data science, information technology, information systems and software engineering.  Many graduates have found it really useful to complete the Graduate Diploma “with no endorsement”.  This means that you can select the courses you are most interested in from across the range of subjects.  You are strongly encouraged to select “no endorsement”.

You’ll learn a broad spectrum of skills from business management through to software development.  So you’ll emerge from your studies at Massey with a well-rounded understanding of the whole industry. You’ll gain the applied skills that you’ll need to become an excellent ICT professional.

Media studies is an exciting discipline that will prepare you for the challenges of an information-rich society. Media studies is taught through an innovative programme that blends theory with creative practice. It analyses the production, consumption and content of media and their social, cultural, political and economic implications. You will learn how decisions are made on what is communicated, how media forms and industry structures shape those messages, and how this impacts our lives and  understanding of the world. Media studies will help you become a flexible and critical thinker and maker, equipped to be a digitally literate, politically-engaged citizen.

Chemical and bioprocess engineering is the industrial processing of raw materials to higher value products through combinations of physical, chemical or biochemical action. These processes can be very diverse. Chemical and bioprocess engineers design, optimise and operate these processes.

Examples include:

• fermentation of sugars to alcohol
• production of pharmaceutical products
• extraction of high value compounds
• composting of organic waste
• conversion of milk solids to dairy ingredients
• conversion of wood into paper
• production of fuels from waste streams.

The Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering) will equip you with core chemical engineering skills for more traditional industries (oil, gas)

Massey University’s Master of Business Studies combines study of advanced theory with research. It gives you the skills you need to progress your career, or continue to further study.

What will you learn?

A master’s is a rigorous, challenging, rewarding and exciting programme of study. Your study will focus on your chosen specialisation, in the context of other business disciplines. This reflects the reality of today’s business environment.

You will learn the processes and disciplines involved in high-level in-depth research and how to apply them to business. You will complete and present a comprehensive written report on an independent research topic.

We utilise our relationships with industry and help you draw on experience you may have to give your learning context and relevance to the real world.

The Master of Business Studies will also develop your oral and written communication skills to the level expected of senior business leaders.

History is a topic as large as our recorded past. Our cultural heritages, literature, arts, religions, politics, economics, social behaviours, buildings and landscapes all derive from past influences. Massey University’s Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology (Conservation Biology) gives you the opportunity to join the pathway to in-depth research at a master's level. The qualification consists of 90 credits of taught courses and 30 credits of research.

Massey’s Master of Veterinary Studies (MVS) is an internationally recognised degree, most suitable for those who would like to undertake a combination of taught courses and a research project. There are a wide range of taught courses for you to choose from, depending on your area of interest and the endorsement that you choose.

With the Master of Veterinary Studies (Epidemiology) you’ll be able to work at a high level in the field. You’ll gain skills in study design and advanced skills in analysis of epidemiologic data.
You’ll learn how to critically evaluate the literature to make evidence-based decisions. The qualification will teach you how to design surveillance systems and population studies in order to determine the magnitude of health problems. You’ll be able to identify risk factors and evaluate interventions.
