Students enrolled in this major will develop skills in using contemporary creative arts within communication roles for the purpose of clear, engaging, persuasive and powerful storytellng.

Learn how creative expression can be used to challenge people’s assumptions, or encourage them to take civil action and prompt social change.
Graduates will be experimental thinkers who can strategically blend text, images, music, sound, film and performance to achieve their communication goals in a media-rich world.

The major includes papers focused on design thinking, intercultural communication, interactive and social media, the semiotics of sound and images to express ideas, human interest storytelling, and professional studio production (live editing, green screen, cameras and lighting).

Students will work on a variety of practical projects designed to expand their creative practice, such as audio-visual installations, or gaming and VR.

Molecular and Cellular Biology explores the complex mechanisms that coordinate the essential systems that define a living cell and that allow cells to have differentiated properties. This knowledge is used to look at how unicellular and multicellular organisms function and how it can provide researchers with crucial insights into the basis of human and animal diseases.

By studying a major in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Waikato, you will

• Understand the subcellular and cellular organisation of eukaryotic cells and the key catabolic, anabolic and metabolic cellular processes that occur;

The Electrical and Electronic Engineering subject at Waikato is a uniquely future-focused integration of computer science involving software programming, data management, artificial intelligence and cyber-security with core electrical and electronic principles in modern power systems, electronic design, embedded systems and communication.

As a graduate specialising in Electrical and Electronic Engineering you will be ready to contribute to the electricity industry evolution from legacy generation and distribution models into an immediate future of distributed generation and storage, smart grids and new generation paradigms around renewable resources. Education and Society raises questions about the role of education in addressing issues of social justice, power and inequality.

Linguistics is the scientific study of language and, given that language impinges on virtually everything we do, it is a broad and interesting subject. Language is a tool we all use instinctively, without necessarily understanding its precise structure.
