This programme is for those who want to enhance their degree or work experience with knowledge and skills in public relations, advertising, and media practices. Students will work on live projects with real clients, with support from tutors with industry experience.

Students can choose to specialise in one of the following five specialisations:

Network engineering
For those seeking a career in the field of network engineering, network administration, cyber and network security.

Software engineering
For those seeking a career in software engineering, software development, big data and analytics, mobile applications development, and software testing.

Web development
For those seeking a career in web design/development, web applications development, and mobile applications development.

The Bachelor of Applied Management degree is designed for those with a drive to succeed in business, with a practical focus and a flexible structure. Students choose from a range of majors and elective modules, gaining a broad range of business skills, specialist skills, and work experience in their chosen major.

Human Resource Management

Make a career out of being a 'people person'. In this major, students will gain the essential skills needed to get the most from a team of workers. Students will learn about staff management, recruitment, team member performance, up-skilling and development, and resolving workplace conflict.

The Bachelor of Nursing (Level 7) is the three-year degree qualification for those intending to become a registered nurse. After completing this degree, students sit the Nursing Council of New Zealand exam to complete their registration. There is a high demand for nurses both the Waikato, throughout New Zealand, and globally, and there are strong job outcomes for Wintec nursing graduates.

Students studying the Bachelor of Communication at Wintec will learn to communicate effectively with flair. Working individually and in teams, they will hone their storytelling and analytical skills gaining industry-relevant skills and knowledge through hands-on, client-focused projects.

Introduced to both creative media and digital marketing, students develop their expertise in their chosen endorsement through project roles and elective choices, with the opportunity to further specialise in their third year.

Digital marketing
In addition to core communication skills, writing, multimedia storytelling, and creative media production, students will develop further skills to operate strategically in the marketing environment. Students will learn:

• Social media and brand strategy
• Campaign development and delivery
• Marketing communication
• Analytics and reporting 

Students will generate campaign strategies for brands, along with the creative content for marketing, advertising, and storytelling. They will work with clients, leveraging digital channels such as search engines, social media, email, and websites to connect with audiences. They will understand how their target market works through analysis and be able to deliver relevant solutions.

Quantity surveyors manage the finances of construction projects. A working day could include liaising with clients, industry professionals and site workers; measuring quantities of materials; estimating; preparing claims, cash flows and construction programmes, and much more.

Students in this programme will learn the practical skills for quantity surveying, including estimating and feasibility, quantification, pricing, and financial administration of a project during construction. With experience, students will be able to extend their work to include larger and more complex building projects and carry out tasks related to cost planning and financial control.

The Bachelor of Technology is an innovative, practically-orientated and future-focused degree.

Environmental Technology
Environmental technology is about the science of conservation, biosecurity and environmental management. People who choose this pathway can work in positions as biosecurity officers who help manage pest animal and plant control, and help conserve local environments.

Students in the Bachelor of Design programme will develop their creativity, innovation, and design capabilities to find new ways to visually and strategically solve challenges for brands and organisations.

Spatial design
Students will develop designs focusing on functional interior spaces and design fundamentals that span across both residential and commercial disciplines while learning the skills needed to thrive in the industry, including pitching to clients and overseeing a project from start to finish. They will learn:

• Design fundamentals for residential and commercial spaces
• People and communication skills to pitch to clients
• Construction knowledge and project management strategies

The Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) (MNSc (Pre-reg)) programme is a 4-semester two-year programme. The MNSc (Pre-reg) allows degree qualified students a direct and faster route to a nursing career. On successful completion, graduates will be awarded a Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) and be eligible to apply to the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) to sit the State Final Examination to become a registered nurse.

Students in this program will learn theoretical and technical knowledge in a specialised field of science such as:

Food technology is about the science of food. People who choose this pathway can work in entry level positions as food technologists who develop new food products, analyse the components of food, or; food safety officers who audit the food manufacturing industry.

Environmental technology is about the science of conservation, biosecurity and environmental management. People who choose this pathway can work in entry level positions as biosecurity officers who help manage pest animal and plant control, and help conserve local environments.

Biotechnology is about the 'doing' of science, this includes quality assurance of laboratory practices, the analysis of samples and reporting on sample results. People who choose this pathway can work in entry level positions as researchers or laboratory technicians.

This program is highly practical. Alongside learning theory, students will spend time in the laboratory developing the essential practical skills that are useful in the workplace.
