Students in this program will learn the knowledge and skills to deliver quality information technology services and develop effective communication skills to support and enhance various organisations and industries.

Students can choose to specialise in one of the following five specialisations:

Network engineering
For those seeking a career in the field of network engineering, network administration, cyber and network security.

Software engineering
For those seeking a career in software engineering, software development, big data and analytics, mobile applications development, and software testing.

Web development
For those seeking a career in web design/development, web applications development, and mobile applications development.

The Bachelor of Technology is an innovative, practically-orientated and future-focused degree.

Environmental Technology
Environmental technology is about the science of conservation, biosecurity and environmental management. People who choose this pathway can work in positions as biosecurity officers who help manage pest animal and plant control, and help conserve local environments.

This degree is designed for those with a drive to succeed in business, with a practical focus, and a flexible structure. Students can choose from a range of majors and elective modules, and will gain a broad range of business skills, as well as specialist skills and work experience in their chosen major. Students will have the opportunity to undertake collaborative real-world projects with students from other disciplines, and with industry.

Supply Chain Logistics

In the first year, students will complete the eight core modules required for the applied management degree. These will give students the important broad skills needed to excel in any area of business. In the second year, students will take three modules for the supply chain logistics major, choose three other modules, which can be towards a second major, and two more core modules - Applied Management and Research Methodology. In the third year, students will study two more supply chain logistics modules and two other modules towards a second major. Students will also apply their skill on work placement with a local business.

The Master of Applied Information Technology enables students to undertake an extended study program in their specialised information technology field. It requires 180 credits and has two pathways:

• The thesis pathway
• The research project pathway

This programme is for those who want to enhance their degree or work experience with knowledge and skills in public relations, advertising, and media practices. Students will work on live projects with real clients, with support from tutors with industry experience.

To be successful in public relations or advertising, students must be an excellent communicator, a problem solver, a lateral thinker, interested in contemporary issues, creative and able to work under pressure. The Graduate Diploma in Communication (Level 7) can help develop students' abilities in these areas and prepare them for a career in these exciting industries.

Studying this program, students will be equipped with the skills for a multi-media career in journalism or communications.

Students in this program will develop news sourcing, writing and publishing skills; as well as technical skills in photography and videography. Students will put these skills into practice publishing regularly in the Wintec online newspaper, The Waikato Independent, and through projects with industry.

Biotechnology
Biotechnology is about the 'doing' of science. This includes quality assurance of laboratory practices, analysis of samples, and reporting on sample results. People who choose this pathway can work in positions as researchers or laboratory technicians.

This program is for those with a degree in another subject who want to progress their career into accounting.

Students will learn the theory and practice of accountancy, critical thinking, decision-making, and business analysis. The course also includes financial reports and business tax regulations. Before completing their study, students will complete an accounting project for a real business as their final assignment.

To enrol in this program potential students will need to demonstrate knowledge of recording and processing financial transactions using a double entry accounting system and the preparation of financial statements, as well as show an understanding of analysis and interpretation of financial statements and reports.

Agritechnology
Agritechnology is about the science of agriculture, including soil and plant analysis, and plant and animal production. People who choose this pathway can work in positions as researchers or laboratory technicians with a focus on agriculture.

This program is designed for those who want to work with people learning English as a second or additional language. These programs are suitable for trained teachers as well as those with little or no teaching experience.

If students are currently teaching in primary, secondary, and tertiary education, they will be able to apply and integrate specialist knowledge and practical skills relating to teaching English to speakers of other languages to the students they teach.

Students will gain knowledge and practical skills relating to teaching English to speakers of other languages (ESOL) as well as the experience of applying and integrating these into particular teaching contexts. Students will gain knowledge of English linguistics, learners and language learning processes, and language teaching methodology. Students will also gain the experience of beginning to learn a new language and reflecting on their own language learning, and apply this experience to teach those who are learning English as a second or additional language.
