This program is for those with a degree in another subject who want to progress their career into human resource management. Students will develop specialist skills in staff management, recruitment, employee performance, employee up-skilling and development, and conflict resolution. This program includes a work placement and research project.

All modules in the Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management are compulsory.

Studying this program, students will be equipped with the skills for a multi-media career in journalism or communications.

Students in this program will develop news sourcing, writing and publishing skills; as well as technical skills in photography and videography. Students will put these skills into practice publishing regularly in the Wintec online newspaper, The Waikato Independent, and through projects with industry.

Supply Chain Logistics explores how to recognise, analyse and solve global logistics and supply chain issues. This moves beyond the logistics of production & engineering into the broader range of activities that effectively links suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers to end-users.

This program is for those with a degree in another subject who want to progress into supply chain and logistical management positions. This program includes a work placement and research project.

Core studies include learning how to identify important phases of supply chain and logistical management from internal and external perspectives; evaluating and critiquing existing operations; identifying supply chain and logistical issues, and creating effective and sustainable management solutions.

Other relevant topics include project management, operations management and e-commerce in relation to supply chain logistics. The final module – BIBM788 Professional Project – includes a work placement and research project, bringing together all that has been learnt in the classroom.??? This is a great experience, where students get the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents and build networks and business relationships that can lead to job opportunities.

The Bachelor of Nursing (Level 7) is the three-year degree qualification for those intending to become a registered nurse. After completing this degree, students sit the Nursing Council of New Zealand exam to complete their registration. There is a high demand for nurses both the Waikato, throughout New Zealand, and globally, and there are strong job outcomes for Wintec nursing graduates.

Students can choose from a range of majors and elective modules, and will gain a broad range of business skills, as well as specialist skills and work experience in their chosen major. Students will have the opportunity to undertake collaborative real-world projects with students from other disciplines, and with industry.

Supply Chain Logistics

In the first year, students will complete the eight core modules required for the applied management degree. These will give students the important broad skills needed to excel in any area of business. In the second year, students will take three modules for the supply chain logistics major, choose three other modules, which can be towards a second major, and two more core modules - Applied Management and Research Methodology. In the third year, students will study two more supply chain logistics modules and two other modules towards a second major. Students will also apply their skill on work placement with a local business.

This program is for those with a degree in another subject who want to progress their career into operations management. Students will develop specialist skills in analysis and logistics to plan and implement production efficiencies. This programme includes a work placement and research project.

All modules in the Graduate Diploma in Operations and Production Management are compulsory, there are no elective modules. Students will study five modules specific to Operations and Production Management covering subjects

This programme is for those who want to enhance their degree or work experience with knowledge and skills in public relations, advertising, and media practices. Students will work on live projects with real clients, with support from tutors with industry experience.

To be successful in public relations or advertising, students must be an excellent communicator, a problem solver, a lateral thinker, interested in contemporary issues, creative and able to work under pressure. The Graduate Diploma in Communication (Level 7) can help develop students' abilities in these areas and prepare them for a career in these exciting industries.

Students in this program will develop the professional skills required to work within the complex and interprofessional social service and health communities. Additional to what many other counselling program offer, it includes a mental health and addictions focus. Placement is a significant element of this program.

Students studying the Bachelor of Communication at Wintec will learn to communicate effectively with flair. Working individually and in teams, they will hone their storytelling and analytical skills gaining industry-relevant skills and knowledge through hands-on, client-focused projects.

Introduced to both creative media and digital marketing, students develop their expertise in their chosen endorsement through project roles and elective choices, with the opportunity to further specialise in their third year.

Creative media 
Along with core communication skills, writing, multimedia storytelling, and basic digital marketing, students will develop further skills to be creative content producers. Students will learn:

• Media production and delivery

• Video production

Students will generate dynamic, creative media solutions. They will produce a range of engaging content for delivery across a variety of platforms, that respond to a brief, and appeal to their intended audiences.

Architectural Technicians use their construction and drawing knowledge to make building designs become a reality.

They produce drawings and documents that enable pricing, consenting, and construction of domestic and commercial building projects. They also create architectural models and specifications and may be involved in administering construction contracts.

Students in this program will learn to prepare fully detailed drawings and specifications for the construction of buildings, both manually and using CAD packages.

Students will be equipped to work as an architectural technicians in small-to-medium-scale building projects.

After an additional period of suitable experience, students will be able to work on larger and more complex building projects.

What you will learn

Year one includes documentation for small buildings, materials and structural principles, construction for small buildings, feasibility and environmental impact.

Year two includes construction for medium and large buildings, design in the built environment, virtual design, and construction.

Students will study a range of modules that will teach them to:

• Research, prepare and communicate design and construction documents for small to medium scale projects
• Assist with researching, preparing and communicating design and construction documentation for large or complex building projects
• Assist with general practice management
• Demonstrate oral, oral, and written communication skills in both formal and informal styles
• Demonstrate social, legal and cultural contextual knowledge
