Food technology
Food technology is about the science of food. People who choose this pathway can work in positions as food technologists who develop new food products, analyse the components of food, or; food safety officers who audit the food manufacturing industry.

This programme is for those passionate about social justice who want to support and empower individuals, families, wh?nau, and communities. Students will gain the skills to provide advice and support and learn how to advocate for individuals and groups. They will help their communities realise their full potential to function independently and positively in society.

This four-year programme combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning. You will gain the knowledge base, skills, and attributes required to practice in a variety of social work fields and environments such as schools, hospitals, community groups, or government organisations.

Students will develop the skills to:

• Promote the principles of human rights and social justice and promote social change.
• Work collaboratively with other professionals in multi-disciplinary teams, organisations, and communities.
• Critically reflect on their own social work practice through supervision, peer review, and self-evaluation.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with different user groups.
• Provide or facilitate social services in fields such as healthcare, schools, government, and non-government agencies.
• Undertake their practice according to the ethical and legislative boundaries.
• Increase their social and political awareness, and think critically about the structures, behaviours, and processes that disadvantage and oppress people.

The Bachelor of Social Work programme will prepare graduates to enter the social work workforce at a beginning practitioner level with provisional registration with the Social Workers Registration Board.

This program provides students with postgraduate study leading towards professional and higher academic practice. Students will learn within a research-focused learning environment, and will extend their domain of practice through research in their chosen area.

Students will extend their domain of practice through undertaking a body of sustained, independent research. This in-depth investigation is in the student's chosen area of communication, design, music or visual arts practice within a research-focused learning environment. The program will prepare students for high level investigation of, and intervention within their chosen academic or professional field.

Students in the Bachelor of Design programme will develop their creativity, innovation, and design capabilities to find new ways to visually and strategically solve challenges for brands and organisations.

Visual communication
Students will add value to brands or organisations by creating artwork and graphic designs for digital media, magazines, brochures, advertising, packaging and products. They will learn:

• Graphic design for print, package, and publication
• Logo design and brand identity development
• Illustration
• Web and interactive design and motion graphics

This program will provide students with the knowledge and skills for a career in information technology. It is equivalent to the first year of the Bachelor of Applied Information Technology, so if students choose to progress to the degree they will only need to undertake another two years of study.

Students will develop an awareness of the IT environment and an appreciation of the needs of users. Students will develop the skills to work in roles such as computer technician, help desk and technical support officer, entry-level network administrator, network engineer, and applications support analyst, focusing on technical support. This programme incorporates the New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology.

Environmental Technology
Environmental technology is about the science of conservation, biosecurity and environmental management. People who choose this pathway can work in positions as biosecurity officers who help manage pest animal and plant control, and help conserve local environments.

The Bachelor of Applied Management degree is designed for those with a drive to succeed in business, with a practical focus and a flexible structure.

This degree's practical focus increases employment opportunities when students graduate, with small class sizes helping to build strong one-on-one learning relationships with tutors.? The flexible structure allows students to choose from a range of majors and a wide variety of elective modules.

Accounting:

In this pathway, students will learn the theory and practice of accountancy, critical thinking, decision-making, and business analysis. The course also includes financial reports and business tax regulations. Before they graduate, students will complete an accounting project for a real business as their final assignment. There are two accounting pathways to choose from - the non-CAANZ/CPA pathway, which has greater flexibility, or the CAANZ/CPA pathway, which allows the potential to become a chartered accountant.

Sales and Marketing
Putting consumer theory into practice, students will graduate with skills in consumer behavioural analysis, domestic and international market theory, and applied marketing campaigns.
