Students can choose to specialise in one of the following five specialisations:

Database administration
For those seeking a career in database administration, data warehousing and business intelligence, and mobile applications development.

Students in this program will learn theoretical and technical knowledge in a specialised field of science such as:

Food technology is about the science of food. People who choose this pathway can work in entry level positions as food technologists who develop new food products, analyse the components of food, or; food safety officers who audit the food manufacturing industry.

Environmental technology is about the science of conservation, biosecurity and environmental management. People who choose this pathway can work in entry level positions as biosecurity officers who help manage pest animal and plant control, and help conserve local environments.

Biotechnology is about the 'doing' of science, this includes quality assurance of laboratory practices, the analysis of samples and reporting on sample results. People who choose this pathway can work in entry level positions as researchers or laboratory technicians.

This program is highly practical. Alongside learning theory, students will spend time in the laboratory developing the essential practical skills that are useful in the workplace.

The Bachelor of Technology is an innovative, practically-orientated and future-focused degree.

Biotechnology
Biotechnology is about the 'doing' of science. This includes quality assurance of laboratory practices, analysis of samples, and reporting on sample results. People who choose this pathway can work in positions as researchers or laboratory technicians.

The Bachelor of Nursing (Level 7) is the three-year degree qualification for those intending to become a registered nurse. After completing this degree, students sit the Nursing Council of New Zealand exam to complete their registration. There is a high demand for nurses both the Waikato, throughout New Zealand, and globally, and there are strong job outcomes for Wintec nursing graduates.

The Bachelor of Applied Management degree is designed for those with a drive to succeed in business, with a practical focus and a flexible structure.

This degree's practical focus increases employment opportunities when students graduate, with small class sizes helping to build strong one-on-one learning relationships with tutors.? The flexible structure allows students to choose from a range of majors and a wide variety of elective modules.

Accounting:

In this pathway, students will learn the theory and practice of accountancy, critical thinking, decision-making, and business analysis. The course also includes financial reports and business tax regulations. Before they graduate, students will complete an accounting project for a real business as their final assignment. There are two accounting pathways to choose from - the non-CAANZ/CPA pathway, which has greater flexibility, or the CAANZ/CPA pathway, which allows the potential to become a chartered accountant.

Students in the Bachelor of Design programme will develop their creativity, innovation, and design capabilities to find new ways to visually and strategically solve challenges for brands and organisations.

Spatial design
Students will develop designs focusing on functional interior spaces and design fundamentals that span across both residential and commercial disciplines while learning the skills needed to thrive in the industry, including pitching to clients and overseeing a project from start to finish. They will learn:

• Design fundamentals for residential and commercial spaces
• People and communication skills to pitch to clients
• Construction knowledge and project management strategies

This degree is designed for those with a drive to succeed in business, with a practical focus, and a flexible structure. Students can choose from a range of majors and elective modules, and will gain a broad range of business skills, as well as specialist skills and work experience in their chosen major. Students will have the opportunity to undertake collaborative real-world projects with students from other disciplines, and with industry.

Sales and Marketing
Putting consumer theory into practice, students will graduate with skills in consumer behavioural analysis, domestic and international market theory, and applied marketing campaigns.

Students in this program will learn theory and technical knowledge in a range of natural and physical sciences. Students will also learn a range of practical skills, laboratory methods, and the soft skills necessary for further studies in the field of science. Areas of study include chemistry, biology, microbiology, food nutrition, and environmental sciences.

This program is highly practical. Alongside learning theory, students will spend time in the laboratory developing the practical skills that are useful in the workplace.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Informatics program has been developed to meet increasing demand from industry and organisations for professionals with interdisciplinary knowledge and information management skills. This program provides a professional development pathway for graduates with a relevant degree. Students will learn about the social, cultural, and organisational settings in which information is used. Areas of specialisation could include e-commerce, strategic planning, organisational behaviour, and services management.

This programme is about the use of information systems as solutions in business environments. Students will learn how the analysis and implementation of information systems can deliver information to the right people in the most effective time and ways.

In this program, students will gain a strong foundation of knowledge across a broad range of different information technology skills, as well as an advanced level of expertise in a selected specialisation.

Students will undertake core modules that cover the fundamental skills required for a career in IT, for example, software engineering, database architecture, web development, business analysis, communications technology, operating systems, systems administration, and network engineering. Students will also gain practical, industry-aligned skills that employers demand from our graduates as well as new and emerging fields including cloud computing, big data and analytics, DevOps, business intelligence, agile development, web and mobile app development, games development, AR/VR, intrusion detection, vulnerability assessment, and security.

Our degree is also designed to provide students with a broad skill-set and holistic understanding of the wider context of the IT business domain and the global IT industry, as well as specialist knowledge in a specific area.
