This program is for those with a degree in another subject who want to progress into management and business strategy positions. Students will develop specialist skills in business strategy, analytics, and strategic thinking.

All modules in this program are compulsory. Students will study eight modules in total – five focused on strategic management subjects such as marketing management, leadership, strategic planning and business and society, and one focused on business in the New Zealand context.

This programme is for those who want to enhance their degree or work experience with knowledge and skills in public relations, advertising, and media practices. Students will work on live projects with real clients, with support from tutors with industry experience.

To be successful in public relations or advertising, students must be an excellent communicator, a problem solver, a lateral thinker, interested in contemporary issues, creative and able to work under pressure. The Graduate Diploma in Communication (Level 7) can help develop students' abilities in these areas and prepare them for a career in these exciting industries.

This program is for those with a degree in another subject who want to progress their career into accounting.

Students will learn the theory and practice of accountancy, critical thinking, decision-making, and business analysis. The course also includes financial reports and business tax regulations. Before completing their study, students will complete an accounting project for a real business as their final assignment.

To enrol in this program potential students will need to demonstrate knowledge of recording and processing financial transactions using a double entry accounting system and the preparation of financial statements, as well as show an understanding of analysis and interpretation of financial statements and reports.

Quantity surveyors manage the finances of construction projects. A working day could include liaising with clients, industry professionals and site workers; measuring quantities of materials; estimating; preparing claims, cash flows and construction programmes, and much more.

Students in this programme will learn the practical skills for quantity surveying, including estimating and feasibility, quantification, pricing, and financial administration of a project during construction. With experience, students will be able to extend their work to include larger and more complex building projects and carry out tasks related to cost planning and financial control.

This programme will assist practitioners in gaining advanced knowledge and skills to effectively manage the demands of rapidly changing, and increasingly complex health and social care practice environments.

The Bachelor of Nursing (Level 7) is the three-year degree qualification for those intending to become a registered nurse. After completing this degree, students sit the Nursing Council of New Zealand exam to complete their registration. There is a high demand for nurses both the Waikato, throughout New Zealand, and globally, and there are strong job outcomes for Wintec nursing graduates.

This program will provide students with the knowledge and skills for a career in information technology. It is equivalent to the first year of the Bachelor of Applied Information Technology, so if students choose to progress to the degree they will only need to undertake another two years of study.

Students will develop an awareness of the IT environment and an appreciation of the needs of users. Students will develop the skills to work in roles such as computer technician, help desk and technical support officer, entry-level network administrator, network engineer, and applications support analyst, focusing on technical support. This programme incorporates the New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology.

Studying this program, students will be equipped with the skills for a multi-media career in journalism or communications.

Students in this program will develop news sourcing, writing and publishing skills; as well as technical skills in photography and videography. Students will put these skills into practice publishing regularly in the Wintec online newspaper, The Waikato Independent, and through projects with industry.

This program is for those who want to work in clinical settings as an enrolled nurse and a valued member of the health team.

Students will gain knowledge in nursing, social science, and the structure and function of the human body. They will learn skills in simulated learning environments which can then be applied on placements in clinical practice. A range of clinical courses in different health care settings will prepare students to practice in areas including rehabilitation, acute care and mental health.

After completing this program students will be able to apply to the Nursing Council of New Zealand to sit an exam to be registered as an Enrolled Nurse; this means they will be able to practise under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

The Master of Applied Information Technology enables students to undertake an extended study program in their specialised information technology field. It requires 180 credits and has two pathways:
