Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration)

This program is for those with a degree in another subject who want to progress their career into human resource management. Students will develop specialist skills in staff management, recruitment, employee performance, employee up-skilling and development, and conflict resolution. This program includes a work placement and research project.

All modules in the Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management are compulsory.

This program provides students with postgraduate study leading towards professional and higher academic practice. Students will learn within a research-focused learning environment, and will extend their domain of practice through research in their chosen area.

Students will extend their domain of practice through undertaking a body of sustained, independent research. This in-depth investigation is in the student's chosen area of communication, design, music or visual arts practice within a research-focused learning environment. The program will prepare students for high level investigation of, and intervention within their chosen academic or professional field.

The Bachelor of Applied Management degree is designed for those with a drive to succeed in business, with a practical focus and a flexible structure.

This degree's practical focus increases employment opportunities when students graduate, with small class sizes helping to build strong one-on-one learning relationships with tutors.? The flexible structure allows students to choose from a range of majors and a wide variety of elective modules.

Accounting:

In this pathway, students will learn the theory and practice of accountancy, critical thinking, decision-making, and business analysis. The course also includes financial reports and business tax regulations. Before they graduate, students will complete an accounting project for a real business as their final assignment. There are two accounting pathways to choose from - the non-CAANZ/CPA pathway, which has greater flexibility, or the CAANZ/CPA pathway, which allows the potential to become a chartered accountant.

This degree is designed for those with a drive to succeed in business, with a practical focus, and a flexible structure. Students can choose from a range of majors and elective modules, and will gain a broad range of business skills, as well as specialist skills and work experience in their chosen major. Students will have the opportunity to undertake collaborative real-world projects with students from other disciplines, and with industry.

Strategic Management

In their first year, students will complete the eight core modules required for the applied management degree. These modules will give students the important broad skills they will need to excel in any business area. During their second year, students will take three modules for the strategic management major, choose three other modules toward a second major, and study two core modules – Applied Management and Research Methodology. In the third year, students will study two more strategic management modules and two other modules towards a second major. Students will also apply their skill on work placement with a local business.

This program is designed for those who want to work with people learning English as a second or additional language. These programs are suitable for trained teachers as well as those with little or no teaching experience.

If students are currently teaching in primary, secondary, and tertiary education, they will be able to apply and integrate specialist knowledge and practical skills relating to teaching English to speakers of other languages to the students they teach.

Students will gain knowledge and practical skills relating to teaching English to speakers of other languages (ESOL) as well as the experience of applying and integrating these into particular teaching contexts. Students will gain knowledge of English linguistics, learners and language learning processes, and language teaching methodology. Students will also gain the experience of beginning to learn a new language and reflecting on their own language learning, and apply this experience to teach those who are learning English as a second or additional language.

The Master of Applied Information Technology enables students to undertake an extended study program in their specialised information technology field. It requires 180 credits and has two pathways:

• The thesis pathway
• The research project pathway

Students in this program will learn theoretical and technical knowledge in a specialised field of science such as:

Food technology is about the science of food. People who choose this pathway can work in entry level positions as food technologists who develop new food products, analyse the components of food, or; food safety officers who audit the food manufacturing industry.

Environmental technology is about the science of conservation, biosecurity and environmental management. People who choose this pathway can work in entry level positions as biosecurity officers who help manage pest animal and plant control, and help conserve local environments.

Biotechnology is about the 'doing' of science, this includes quality assurance of laboratory practices, the analysis of samples and reporting on sample results. People who choose this pathway can work in entry level positions as researchers or laboratory technicians.

This program is highly practical. Alongside learning theory, students will spend time in the laboratory developing the essential practical skills that are useful in the workplace.

The Bachelor of Technology is an innovative, practically-orientated and future-focused degree.

Food technology
Food technology is about the science of food. People who choose this pathway can work in positions as food technologists who develop new food products, analyse the components of food, or; food safety officers who audit the food manufacturing industry.

Students studying the Bachelor of Communication at Wintec will learn to communicate effectively with flair. Working individually and in teams, they will hone their storytelling and analytical skills gaining industry-relevant skills and knowledge through hands-on, client-focused projects.

Introduced to both creative media and digital marketing, students develop their expertise in their chosen endorsement through project roles and elective choices, with the opportunity to further specialise in their third year.

Creative media 
Along with core communication skills, writing, multimedia storytelling, and basic digital marketing, students will develop further skills to be creative content producers. Students will learn:

• Media production and delivery
• Creative research and development
• Photography
• Video production

Students will generate dynamic, creative media solutions. They will produce a range of engaging content for delivery across a variety of platforms, that respond to a brief, and appeal to their intended audiences.

This degree is for those who want to engage in fields of art including painting, photography, screen-based media, installation, street art, sculpture, curation or illustration. Students will study in a community where individual vision and personality are valued as a relevant contribution to our society.

Students will develop and gain a deep understanding of creativity in art and use this to respond to situations that demand combinations of ideas, technologies and techniques that result in new forms of knowledge and making. Such knowledge is powerful in the careers that will sustain and transform our world.
