The MSc in International Diplomacy offers you the chance to study in-depth the evolution, practice, and theories of diplomacy in international settings. It is suitable for students and practitioners with an interest in deepening, extending or challenging their understanding of diplomacy and diplomatic practices, broadly defined as the practice of political interactions and contestations between states; between states and non-state actors; and between citizens and states. As such, it offers critical examination of the evolving field of diplomatic studies; and both practitioners and those with an interest in the subject will complete the programme with a fuller understanding of how diplomacy works; when, where and how it occurs and what diplomacy means to different audiences and in different contexts.

By taking this combined programme, you will study educational practices and processes from a variety of perspectives. The compulsory sociology modules will provide you with a grounding in the key areas of the discipline: inequalities, social theory, and research methods. Pharmacists play a key role in many aspects of the design, development, delivery, and optimisation of the use of medicines and related products. They are clinicians and scientists, with strong management and communication skills. These skills ensure that pharmacists are highly effective in community pharmacy, hospitals, GP surgeries, the pharmaceutical industry, academia, regulatory affairs and public health.

Pharmacists promote the safe and effective use of medicines and ensure the highest quality of patient care. Often, they are the first point of information for the public and other healthcare professionals, and as such must be effective communicators.

You will explore educational topics such as the nature of learning, the history of education, and changes to educational policies and practices. You'll consider Education's relationship to the economy, its historical evolution, its impact on people’s life chances and identities, how education is organised, and how learners learn. We aim to introduce you to many of the big questions concerning education and schooling both in the UK and also internationally. Why do we go to school? What should we learn? How should we learn it? What is the main aim of education? You will explore the ways in which education has been central to social and political change around the world.

Alongside this, you’ll develop an understanding of different approaches to history, developing a range of methods used in their pursuit. The programme will carry you chronologically from the medieval period to the present, and span the globe. You will be introduced to a wide range of history – from political, social, economic and cultural history to the history of gender, health, sexuality and religion. Throughout your first year, you may engage in modules that encourage you to explore topics such as how European rulers tried to strengthen their authority with the increase of military power between the late fifteenth and late seventeenth centuries, or some of the key defining moments in History which may include the 1720 South Sea Bubble in Britain, the 1791 Haitian Revolution or the 1933 Bauhaus movement. 

On this course, you will develop a solid foundation of theory and practical skills, building to cover advanced concepts and contemporary issues in chemistry in later years. You will learn to use chemistry in problem solving and to to present your theories and findings confidently and imaginatively. Environmental Science at Keele draws on the expertise of scientists within the disciplines of life sciences, chemical sciences and geosciences. This course aims to develop your scientific understanding and practical skills needed to help tackle many of the world’s major environmental (and societal) problems such as climate change, food security, water resources, pollution and conservation. Geology is a practical subject with applied problem-solving laboratory classes and field courses where you will learn how to interpret and map geological features, and explore for future geological resources. The course looks at rocks, minerals and fossils, how they were formed, how they can be exploited as a resource, and what they can tell us about the history of the Earth. It also covers geological processes such as earthquakes, volcanoes and plate tectonics.

It provides a diverse range of specialist options. We focus particularly on applied research skills: you will learn to collect, analyse and interpret different types of geological data, and to carry out your own research using specialist software and equipment. You will also complete a comprehensive and integrated UK fieldwork programme with no cost options.
