This course is a five-year Integrated Masters degree with entry into either Year 1 with Highers or Year 2 with Advanced Highers or A-levels. 

Biochemistry is the study of how cells work at molecular level. Together with the related field of Molecular Biology, Biochemistry provides important advances into understanding the molecular basis of life, and how alteration or disruption of these molecular pathways leads to disease processes.

This Masters degree is for students who want to specialise in a single biomedical science. It’s particularly relevant if you want to pursue a research career.

In Years 1 to 4, you’ll follow the same curriculum as one of the joint Honours bioscience degrees. In Year 5, you’ll focus on developing research skills and knowledge. A significant part of this course is project-based.

Ninety percent of world trade is carried by sea. You'll gain an understanding of the subjects essential for effective and efficient management of ships and fleets. This course allows you to develop multidisciplinary interests and skills by working with other areas of naval architecture, ocean and marine engineering.

As a graduate you could expect to work in the industry as a technical ship superintendent or manager.

Social Policy examines the ways in which societies distribute resources and develop services to meet individual and social needs. Key social policy issues examined include poverty; economic, race, age and gender inequality; social justice health; education; criminal justice and housing.

It utilises a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to improve our understanding of how societies organise their resources to meet individual and social needs and how they measure progress in these areas. 

This programme gives you the opportunity to learn more about the social and economic challenges facing Scottish society and place these in a broader international perspective. It draws on disciplines such as history, sociology, anthropology, economics, law, psychology, social anthropology and politics.

The combination of mechanical, electrical, electronic, computing, measurement and control elements are now an important part of most modern engineering systems and are essential to meet new challenges in engineering innovation.

Examples include energy generation, hybrid petrol/electric vehicles, aircraft design, satellite technology, robotic systems and technology for a sustainable environment.

This degree covers key areas of both electrical and mechanical engineering reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of modern engineering. There's a demand for graduates with expertise within and across the boundaries of both disciplines.

The degree has dual accreditation by the IET and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers meaning that you will be able to capitalise on career opportunities in both or either subject.

The program provides you with practical knowledge of offshore floating systems. You’ll look at their conceptions, design and installation. You’ll also gain a sound basis of mathematical and engineering fundamentals.

With the world-wide search for offshore oil and gas moving into increasingly hostile areas of ocean and deep and ultra-deep water, floating systems are becoming more widely used. Floating systems must be designed and built to withstand harsh environments with innovative methods and techniques being adopted to develop robust as well as economically efficient and safe structures. In meeting these challenges, concern for the environment is of increasing importance.
