Our MSc in Product Design will provide a thorough training in design theories and methods including product aesthetics and human-centred design, as well as the utilisation of advanced design techniques in digital modelling and physical rapid prototyping of design solutions.

We are the only department in the UK that combines end-to-end multidisciplinary expertise from creative design, through engineering design, manufacture and management of the entire system. The MSc Prosthetics & Orthotics is one of the few programmes globally that offers a specific degree in prosthetics and orthotics. The National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics (NCPO), within the Department of Biomedical Engineering, has an international reputation for quality education within this field. Staff of the NCPO is involved in research and clinical practice both nationally and internationally.

The course aims to produce postgraduates with a first degree to be in Prosthetics & Orthotics, who are capable of developing careers in allied health professions and biomedical engineering (research, industrial and NHS).

Electronic systems are important to nearly every aspect of our lives. Spectacular advances in technology, design and development allow increasing capabilities to be put into ever-smaller electronic devices.

Just think about your mobile – a smart phone that can now make calls, take and send pictures, give you ultra-fast wireless internet access wherever you are and download, play and store 1000s of albums. It may even have specialist security features like fingerprint identity sensors and voice-activated operating systems. But your smartphone is much more than that. For example:

• It can be used in sports development to monitor specific fitness parameters and help athletes improve their performance levels
